Nokia, an old guard in the phone industry made a big splash at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona Spain on Sunday, February 26, 2023, when it announced it had changed its logo to a more “modern” design.

According to various sources, Nokia’s new logo means being able to adapt to circumstances as evidenced by a series of light lines and circles with the free spelling of the word Nokia.

As seems to be the trend with the various new logo changes, with some letters missing lines as a design choice.  The new logo removes the iconic Nokia typeface and dark blue color and replaced it with lighter and simpler shapes.

The Finnish phone company was once the king of the cellphone industry but ultimately lagged in the smartphone era as Apple and Samsung started taking over.

Previously the word Nokia was written in blue capital letters with 3 black arrow-like illustrations in the upper right corner, meant to indicate the phone's connection to a cell tower.

Since then, minor changes have been made such as removing the three arrows, adding the Connecting People slogan and then eroding it, and changing the font to a slightly sans serif.

Today's Nokia, whose motto in the early 2000s when it was still a leader in the mobile phone market was "Connecting People," is now trying to distance itself from the image of being a mobile phone manufacturer.

Nokia left the world of mobile phone manufacturing almost a decade ago, and now it is focusing on networking and industrial digitization.

That was the new Nokia logo, which came out of the original standard, which is better known as the blue or white Nokia inscription.

Whatever it is, of course, this logo change is a competitive strategy from the Nokia company itself. It will be interesting to follow the progress of the Mobile King in the future.
