ARMA MUSEUM IN UBUD TO HOST INAUGURAL ARTS AND CULTURE FESTIVAL: 'PRESERVING HERITAGE, IGNITING CREATIVITY'
ARMA Fest 2023 - A milestone celebration bridging tradition and creativity in the heart of Bali
The Agung Rai Museum of Art, popularly known as the ARMA Museum, is set to enchant visitors and art enthusiasts with its first-ever arts and culture festival, ARMA Fest 2023, taking place this weekend on Saturday, December 9th, and Sunday, December 10th. The festival aims to showcase the rich heritage of Bali and Indonesia to tourists, offering an immersive experience into the island's artistic and cultural traditions.
The founder of ARMA Ubud Museum and Resort, Anak Agung Gede Rai, expressed his excitement, stating, "ARMA Fest 2023 is proof of the continuity of Balinese and Indonesian artistic and cultural traditions." He emphasized the importance of preserving Bali's noble cultural heritage while fostering creativity.
For the first time, the ARMA Museum will transform into a cultural hub, inviting the public and tourists to join the celebration. The festival's theme, 'Preserving Heritage, Igniting Creativity,' reflects the commitment to maintaining the island's cultural legacy.
The festivities will kick off with an art performance by local children, followed by a day filled with art workshops, allowing participants to actively engage in preserving Bali's cultural heritage. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the extensive collection of art and cultural artifacts on display throughout the ARMA Museum and resort.
Anak Agung Gede Rai announced, "The committee will provide free entry for children up to junior high school, with entrance tickets starting from IDR 350,000 per person for one day and IDR 500,000 per person for two days." The festival promises a sustainable agenda and unwavering commitment to art preservation.
The ARMA Museum, inaugurated in June 1996, stands as a global beacon for Balinese art and culture. Tourists from around the world flock to witness the impressive Kasaman paintings and partake in the interactive experiences offered by the museum.
ARMA's unique allure lies in its immersive activities, allowing visitors to fully engage in the Balinese way of life. Whether attending the festival or on a regular day, tourists can participate in enlightening workshops and classes, making the museum a living entity rather than a static exhibition.
Among the popular classes at ARMA, the Rindik class stands out, where guests learn to play the bamboo xylophone-like instrument integral to the traditional Balinese Gamelan orchestra. Additionally, the woodcarving class provides an opportunity for hands-on experience under the guidance of skilled local woodworkers.
While the ARMA Museum shines as a cultural gem, another hidden treasure in Bali is the Samsara Living Museum located in Karangasem Regency. Embracing culturally respectful and sustainable tourism, the museum offers activities such as Arak making, cooking classes, and daily offering-making classes.
As ARMA Fest 2023 unfolds, it not only marks a celebration of Balinese heritage but also underscores the importance of preserving and sharing this vibrant culture with the world. The festival promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees, fostering a deep appreciation for Bali's rich artistic and cultural traditions.
