What is MICAM Milano?
MICAM Milano is a twice-yearly footwear trade fair where manufacturers show upcoming collections to retail buyers, distributors, and press months before those shoes hit stores. This edition leaned hard into technology, launching a new digital matchmaking platform that lets buyers browse exhibitors, chat, and book meetings before they even land in Milan. It's paired with the Trends Buyer's Guide, built with trend-forecasting company Livetrend, which combines data and AI to map out what's coming for Spring/Summer 2027.
How many brands and countries showed up?
Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Germany, and Portugal led the international exhibitor list. On the buyer side, alongside regulars like France and Switzerland, MICAM welcomed first-time visitor registrations from Denmark, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Nigeria, and Ghana a sign the show's reach is stretching well past its traditional European base.

What's new at MICAM Milano this year?
Two additions stood out. Retail Hub Accessories & Technology for the Store Experience made its debut, pulling in companies like Amazon, BAMA Essential, and Marcoliani to focus on the in-store side of footwear retail packaging, care products, and content tools. And Emerging Designers, MICAM's talent-scouting program running since 2018 with agency Honegger, selected 12 international brands for 2026: Éeclat, En Talons, Joel Wijangco, Maliko, Moon2gether, Nalebe, Paidal, Raphia, Stefano Mugnai, Te Dreamers Club, Tenconi, and Wud. Each got a dedicated showcase area and a slot in the MICAM Next seminar program.
What are the SS 2027 shoe trends?
Livetrend's analysis groups Spring/Summer 2027 into four directions: Mare Noir, Urban Beach, Tribal Relics, and Summer Residence. After several seasons of minimalism, the report points to a swing back toward loud color, texture, and decoration. Expect reworked Mary Janes, deconstructed loafers, and dressed-up flip-flops shoes built to be noticed, not just worn.
Why is Italian footwear headed for UNESCO status?
The opening ceremony, held under the "Fashion Link Milano" umbrella alongside MIPEL and Milano Fashion & Jewels, centered on something bigger than any single collection: Assocalzaturifici's push to get Italian Footwear Art recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Fondazione Fiera Milano president Giovanni Bozzetti now chairs the Supporters' Committee backing the bid.
"What we are able to pass on and continue to evolve." Giovanna Ceolini, President of MICAM Milano and Assocalzaturifici
Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani and Minister of Enterprise Adolfo Urso both sent messages read at the ceremony, framing footwear manufacturing as core to Italy's export economy not just its fashion identity.
