t the GIIAS 2025 automotive expo in ICE BSD City, MG Motor Indonesia made a bold statement: Battery safety is not just a spec—it’s a philosophy. And they’re backing it up with cutting-edge engineering that could reshape the electric vehicle landscape.

Their latest innovation? A high-density battery that’s only 110mm thick—thinner than a standard soda can—and yet packs serious power, performance, and peace of mind.

Cell-to-Pack Technology: Slim, Smart, and Safe
At the heart of MG’s latest EV battery system is its ‘Meng’ Cell-to-Pack (CTP) technology. Unlike traditional setups that rely on multiple modules, this design integrates the battery cells directly into the vehicle’s structure, eliminating wasted space and reducing weight.

This ultra-thin battery design not only gives MG’s electric vehicles a lower center of gravity (a huge plus for stability and handling), but also allows for more spacious cabin interiors, proving that performance and comfort don’t have to be at odds.

And despite the size, this battery delivers impressive power, offering up to 180 Wh/kg energy density—ideal for long-distance driving without compromising efficiency or cabin space.

Layered Safety at Every Level
But MG isn’t just chasing specs—they’re obsessed with making EV batteries safer, especially for real-world tropical conditions like those in Indonesia.

CEO Jason Huang emphasized that in the EV era, batteries are more than energy sources—they are the core of safety. That’s why MG’s battery packs come with a multi-layered safety system:

  • Nano-insulation layer for heat resistance
  • Flame-retardant shielding to reduce fire risk
  • Auto pressure-release valves to mitigate potential overloads

These features are backed by extreme testing—heat resistance up to 55°C, high-impact collisions, and even steel nail penetration—all passed successfully with IP67 certification for water and dust resistance. Translation: These batteries are built to survive floods, heatwaves, and urban chaos.

Intelligent Battery Management: Always Watching
Every MG EV also includes Intelligent Battery Temperature Control Management, a 24/7 monitoring system that ensures optimal battery conditions. If the internal temperature rises, an automatic cooling system kicks in to maintain the ideal 20°C range—extending battery life and ensuring consistent performance.

It’s a detail that matters in countries like Indonesia, where tropical heat and humidity can be a real challenge for conventional EVs.

A New Standard for Urban EVs?
With the MG ZS HEV and other models making a splash at GIIAS 2025, MG Motor Indonesia is proving that EV innovation isn’t just about range or price—it’s about safety, space efficiency, and smart design.

By rethinking battery architecture from the ground up, MG is making a strong case for urban electric vehicles that are as safe as they are stylish—and maybe even paving the way for a new industry standard.

TL;DR?
MG Motor’s newest EV battery is thinner than a soda can, tougher than it looks, and smart enough to monitor itself 24/7. It’s not just about going electric—it’s about doing it better, safer, and sleeker.
