The United Nations releases a World Happiness Report every year. This annual report shows the best countries to live in in the world, meaning the happiest ones. Tying with countries like Denmark, Switzerland, and Iceland, Finland has been on the top of the ladder for quite some time. What is the secret to their everlasting happiness? The food? The water? We're about to find out.

1. Beautiful landscape and nature
Without a doubt, Finland is one of the most, if not the most, beautiful countries in the world. Despite being dark for six months every year, Finland is packed with pristine forests and countless crystal-clear lakes. The wildlife it supports is the cherry on top.

Additionally, Finland has very low pollution levels. Being in an environment that keeps our health safe undoubtedly contributes to our general happiness.

2. Relaxed way of life
Finland is a pretty chill country (pun very much intended). Its people are very laid back, and as opposed to many countries, its citizens value co-operation over competition. According to the 2019 Work-Life Balance Index, Finland ranks first for good working hours in terms of its working culture. The Finnish working culture is democratic, efficient, and sensible, with personnel from different career levels interacting casually with each other, denoting low hierarchy.

3. Low crime rate
Finland is one of the safest countries in the world. Crime rate is one critical measurement for happiness in the recent World Happiness Report, and it was shown that Finland is a very secure country. The result of the low crime levels is people feeling safe, secure, and happier.

4. High standard of living and superior education system
Finland revolutionized its education system years ago, making it one of the fairest in Europe and helping it to produce the best results. This leads to more opportunities for young people.

In addition to that, Finland also has a universal health care system — a significant factor to its citizens' happiness, combined with low crime rates, a sound education system, and functioning universal health care result in a high standard of living.

5. Equality
Equality translates to opportunities for everyone from all socio-economical backgrounds. Finland comprises a vast middle class with very little poverty. The country's rich are also very hesitant in showing off their wealth. Everyone in Finland receives the best education and health care. Homelessness is also practically almost non-existent in Finland.
