With the popularity of Attack on Titan, it is no surprise that more people are showing interest in anime. There is a long list of anime that you should watch, but starting from scratch can be quite difficult. In this article, we will give three anime that you can try if you’re into dramas.

The drama genre refers to plot-driven stories that mainly focus on realistic characters that are experiencing human struggles. While some of these anime can be categorized as fantasy or supernaturals, the essence does not change. Without further ado, this is the list of drama anime.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood


Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is adapted from the manga with the same name, Fullmetal Alchemist. It premiered on April 5, 2009, produced by Bones Studio with Aniplex, Square Enix, and others as the producers. It has 64 episodes in total with each runtime of 24 minutes. 

After an alchemy experiment went wrong, Edward Elric lost an arm and leg while Alphonse Elric lost his entire body with his soul placed in a suit of armor. Surviving the incident, the brothers decided to be state alchemists with Edward gaining the nickname of “Fullmetal” to find out the truth of the Philosopher’s Stone, a powerful gem that is said to have defied the laws of alchemy. 

Voicing Edward Elric is Romi Park, known for her roles in “Attack on Titan” and “Bleach.” Meanwhile, AI is voiced by Rie Kugimiya who is renowned for her roles in “Toradora” and “Tokyo Ghoul.”

Your Lie in April


Adapted from a manga with the same name by Arakawa Naoshi, Your Lie in April is an anime that was released in Fall 2014. It has 22 episodes with 22 minutes runtime each, produced by A-1 Pictures studios with Aniplex of America as their licensors. A live-action movie also premiered in Japan in September 2016.

Kousei Arima is a prodigy in piano but after the passing of his mother, he is unable to play nor hear the sound of his own piano. Two years later he met a violinist named Kaori Miyazono, who encourages him to face his fear and play the piano again.

Kousei Arima is voiced by Natsuki Hanae, known for his role as Tanjiro Kamado in the “Demon Slayer” series and “Tokyo Ghoul” as Kaneki Ken. Kaori Miyazono is voiced by Risa Taneda, who is famous for her role in “Beyond the Boundary.”

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day


Anohana is known for its tear-jerking story, which first premiered in the spring of 2011. It is produced by A-1 Pictures studios with Aniplex, Dentsu, Fuji TV, and others as producers.

Jinta Yadomi led a peaceful life until he saw the ghost of his childhood friend, Menma, who died in an accident years before. Menma is adamant to bring their childhood friends back together to fulfill her wish so she could move on to the afterlife but the problem is, they all have drifted apart after her death.
