TOM HOLLAND AS 'HIMSELF' IN PRADA'S SPRING/SUMMER 2022 CAMPAIGN
Spidey would wear Prada if Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada were the comic artists.
Tom Holland is having a great year. After the successful movies with Marvel, the Spider-Man actor is now the face of the Spring/Summer 2022 campaign of the Italian fashion house Prada. The campaign, designed by Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada, directed by Ferdinando Verderi, and shot by David Sims, features Holland as 'himself'.
"To showcase the Spring Summer 2022 Prada menswear collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, global star Tom Holland performs as 'himself' in a series of photographs by David Sims. In a re-contextualizing of a figure world-renown for his action hero roles, Holland here becomes an embodiment of today's Prada man," Prada described the campaign.

The campaign aims to depict the ideal man for the brand, who is both an intellectual and complex individual through fashion.
The concept of the shoot was to capture Holland as his true self, and this time, he wore a red Prada jacket and white embroidered buttoned down. The photos of the campaign show Holland posing in various poses, which highlight the relationship between his body and the clothes.
Prada states, "The power of acting is to draw on a well of personal experience to convey a mood, an emotion and feeling that, while fiction, borrows its fact from the performer's own humanity."
Holland is portrayed through portraits and intimate scenes in the campaign.
"These images cement minute actions and reactions, close and gentle moments - the rapport between garment and body, gestures of dressing and undressing alive within the imagery. Instead of a cinematic panorama, Holland is portrayed via portraits, intimate and real," Prada continues the statement.
The campaign features a mix of familiar silhouettes with a bit of fantasy, including bucket hats, bold stripes, shorts for vacation, beachy tops, and vibrant colors.
Celebrity endorsement in the fashion industry

It's not uncommon for a brand to have celebrity endorsements, especially since it's something that the company does exceptionally well. During the brand's FW22 runway, the show featured an all-star cast that included Jeff Goldblum, Asa Butterfield, Willem Dafoe, Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody, and more.
For the Spring/Summer 2022 campaign, Holland is the latest addition to the roster of talent that the brand has worked with.
Another luxury brand that is making waves is Balenciaga, which has partnered with Yeezy, owned rapper Kanye West, to create a collection called Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga. The collection, which will be released in June, is the latest example of how celebrity collaborations can bring together the creative and popular high fashion brand.
