Shengxiao ("born resembling"), or the Chinese zodiac, is a 12-year cycle in which a new animal embodies each year. The 12 animals are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

In Chinese mythology, the Jade Emperor's Race is the most widely recognized myth for the Chinese zodiac signs.
