The R1 GYTR VR46 features parts of the 2022 GYTR specification. There are also unique features that are all developed directly from the Yamaha World Superbike (WSBK). This unit also helped the manufacturer achieve the 2021 WorldSBK Triple Crown (driver, team, and title). And this model is also the highest specification Supersport Yamaha has ever made for track use.
This YZF-R1 is special because it has a new carbon fiber fairing kit and a subframe that uses the same material. The tank capacity is increased to 22 liters, all designed with weight reduction in mind. The installed Brembo brake package was developed for maximum stopping power.
The suspension relies on the Ohlins brand. A set of GYTR wheels from Marchesini that are known for being light and robust. Air filter to WorldSBK specifications. While the high-performance REX 140 Marelli ECU is tasked with producing world-class power.
The R1 GYTR VR46 award was presented to Valentino Rossi at the One More Lap event at EICMA 2021. This is the first time Yamaha has paid tribute to the VR46 and its historical legacy.
