In a recent webinar titled "The Launch of Logo and Slogan of 25 Years of Komnas Perempuan," Chairperson of the National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan), Andy Yentriyani, underlined the pivotal role of young individuals, particularly girls, in driving meaningful engagement across various developmental spheres.

Pointing to data from Statistics Indonesia's (BPS) National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas) conducted in March 2022, Yentriyani highlighted that Indonesia's youth population totaled 68.82 million, constituting 24 percent of the nation's overall populace.

Yentriyani stressed that the significant youth demographic underscores the necessity of their active participation, particularly young women, in developmental agendas encompassing eco-conservation, sustainable economics, and the enduring well-being of the planet and its inhabitants.

This perspective aligns with Youth Law No. 40 of 2009, which designates youths as agents of change with a role in fostering environmental stewardship. Yentriyani noted, "This underscores the strategic position of youth in shaping a sustainable world, including addressing societal challenges."

Furthermore, she emphasized the imperative of providing a violence-free environment for the younger generation who are catalysts for change.

Komnas Perempuan's 2022 records reveal that among 3,442 reported cases of violence, including sexual violence, 64 percent involved individuals aged 18-40, totaling 2,212 cases. Additionally, in 38 percent (1,160 cases) of these incidents, the perpetrators were also within the 18-40 age range.

These statistics accentuate the urgency of directing efforts towards youth, ensuring their active involvement in shaping secure and violence-free spaces. Yentriyani asserted, "Creating a safe environment free from violence is crucial to enabling young minds to think critically and apply their knowledge in advocating for citizens' rights, thus fostering positive social change."

The call to empower and safeguard the younger generation's participation in sustainable development remains a central focus for Komnas Perempuan as it marks 25 years of dedicated service and advocacy.
