As concerns about children's mental health continue to rise, experts are emphasizing the critical need for proactive measures such as motoric skills training to build resilience in young minds. A recent study from the UK National Centre for Social Research highlights that one in five children (20%) is suspected of experiencing mental health issues, with the highest rates among teenagers aged 17-19, where approximately 23.3% are identified as having mental health challenges. These statistics are compounded by the increasing academic and social pressures faced by children today.

According to a 2023 survey by the American Psychological Association (APA), a staggering 75% of parents report their children experiencing excessive stress from school and extracurricular commitments. The Journal Frontiers in Psychology (2020) underscores the connection between chronic stress and psychological breakdowns, noting that unmanaged stress can lead to burnout and various psychological disorders, which significantly affect daily functioning.

In light of these findings, experts advocate for parents to implement early intervention strategies, including motoric skills training, which not only enhances physical health but also fosters confidence and creativity in children.

Learning Through Movement
Fondy Prasetio, Headmaster of Cakap Kids Academy, emphasizes the importance of nurturing both intellectual and emotional development in children. “Our academy creates an environment where children engage not only academically but also in creative pursuits. This holistic approach equips them to navigate life’s challenges more effectively,” Fondy stated.

Motoric skills training encompasses a range of physical activities, including jumping rope, dancing, and artistic endeavors like drawing and coloring. These activities engage large and small muscle groups, promoting physical development while positively impacting emotional and mental growth. Fondy explains, “Allowing children the freedom to create and play enhances their thinking skills, helps them express their emotions, and enables them to manage stress better. This ultimately contributes to building their mental resilience.”

Engaging in activities like painting encourages imaginative expression, while dancing helps children regulate their emotions and uplift their mood. Simple exercises such as running or playing ball trigger the release of endorphins, while yoga teaches relaxation techniques and emotional control.

Supporting Cognitive Growth
Motoric skills training not only contributes to physical and emotional well-being but also enhances cognitive learning. Integrating physical movement with language acquisition, Cakap Kids Academy illustrates that early engagement in motoric activities can have significant positive effects on a child's overall development.

By prioritizing motoric skills training, parents can play a vital role in safeguarding their children’s mental health, ultimately helping to prevent mental breakdowns and fostering resilience in the face of life’s pressures.
