Assistant Deputy for Cultural Promotion and Preservation at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Andre Notohamijoyo, praised the Reog Ponorogo performance as a key representation of the district's harmonious cultural expression. "The Reog performance is a form of cultural expression in this harmonious district," Notohamijoyo stated on Saturday.

The Reog Ponorogo group, known as Singi Koyo Nusontoro Art Studio from Sepaku sub-district, was founded by migrants and has since integrated and evolved within the local context. The performance is now a celebrated part of the district's cultural life. "The Reog performance also strengthens the national campaign to propose Reog, kebaya, and kolintang (a traditional musical instrument) as world cultural heritage to UNESCO in 2024," added Notohamijoyo.

The group's establishment was a collaborative effort, with donations used to purchase performance equipment. The Reog Ponorogo troupe has participated in various national art festivals, including those in East Kalimantan, further showcasing their cultural contributions.

Reog Ponorogo, originating from Ponorogo, East Java, is a traditional performing art renowned for its historical and magical elements. It is performed on an open stage and serves as a symbol of cultural heritage.

"The Reog Ponorogo performance was also supported by the East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan (culture) preservation center. This collaboration between the government and stakeholders highlights our commitment to cultural preservation," Notohamijoyo noted.

The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture organized the Nusantara Culture Harmony Festival from September 5–7, 2024, in Penajam Paser Utara. The festival aims to revitalize local culture in the national capital region.

"The development of the new capital is designed to preserve local identity and culture while considering ecological, economic, social, and cultural aspects," said Woro Srihastuti, Deputy for the Improvement of Children, Women, and Youth Quality at the ministry.
