Calling all cocktail enthusiasts and aficionados! Get ready to raise your glasses and embark on a week-long celebration of exquisite cocktails, charitable contributions, and culinary creativity as Negroni Week returns to Singapore from September 18 to 24, 2023. This marks the 11th edition of the event and promises to be the biggest yet, with over 90 participating bars across the city.

Negroni Week, initiated in 2013, seamlessly combines a love for classic cocktails with a commitment to charity. What began as a small-scale event has now evolved into a global movement that has raised over US$4 million for charitable causes. In 2023, the event collaborates with Imbibe Magazine and Slow Food International, an organization known for its dedication to preserving traditional gastronomy and sustainable food practices. This year, participating bars worldwide contribute to the Negroni Week Fund by Slow Food International through a $25 registration fee, supporting local projects. Additionally, bars have the option to donate a portion of their Negroni sales to their chosen local charities.

The theme for the 11th edition is "The Power of Timeless Bonds," paying tribute to the enduring connection between bartenders, patrons, and the art of crafting the perfect cocktail. Established favorites like Jigger & Pony and Anti:dote make a return, while new and exciting venues like Night Hawk, Jungle Ballroom, Puffy Bois, and Offtrack join the festivities, creating a Negroni lover's paradise.

While the classic Negroni typically consists of equal parts gin, vermouth, and Campari, this year, 14 local bars have taken the challenge to infuse their personal philosophies and signature creativity into their Negroni interpretations. The result is a symphony of flavors that transforms the classic trio into tantalizing taste experiences.

For example, indulge in the Asian-inspired "Breakfast 2.0" ($24) at Mondrian's Jungle Ballroom, crafted by head bartender Adrian Besa. This unique concoction features Indian gin, Indonesian coffee liqueur, and a blend of Campari, Cinzano Rosso Vermouth, and chocolate orange bitters, creating a dessert-like variant with balanced bitterness and sweet caramel toffee and vanilla undertones.

Alternatively, savor Night Hawk's "Binary Byzantine" ($25), concocted by head bartender Chuan, which combines mezcal, Campari, Chinato Vermouth, Montelobos Espadin Mezcal, Classico Bitters Liqueur, and dark chocolate liqueur for a smoky, bittersweet delight.

Offtrack introduces the "Folk Negroni" ($24), created by head bartender Joash Conceicao, offering a mildly dry twist with tart berry notes, making it a pink guava Negroni delight. "Nuthin' Nut a 'G' Thang" ($24) is an inspired mix of Campari, guava vermouth, and gin, influenced by head bartender Naz's journey to Peru.

At Wallich Manor, head bartender Aslam presents "Wallich The 9th" ($24), a bright and citrusy blend of Campari, chrysanthemum-infused Pisco, French wine aperitif, citrus, honey, ginger, lavender bitters, and orange foam.

The week-long celebration includes industry guest shifts, DJ gigs, and free-flow Negroni offerings. Offtrack kicks off the festivities with a "Music Request Night Opening Party" on September 18, featuring Negroni week specials by head bartender Joash Conceicao, live DJs, and $10 song requests for charity.

On September 20, indulge in cocktails from four mixologists at "Simply Analog by Tin Box," featuring Shawn Kishore, Jimmy, Dee, and Plume's Jun Han.

For those craving free-flow Negronis with brunch, head over to Publico Ristorante on September 24 for the "Scarlet Sunday Negroni Brunch," complete with special food pairings, live DJ performances, and a roving bar.

To conclude the week, Jungle Ballroom hosts the "Red Night – The Official Negroni Week Closing Party," offering a trio of Negroni cocktails by Nick Sourmpatis of The Clumsies (#19 in World's 50 Best Bars 2022) and free Campari merchandise.

So, Negroni enthusiasts, prepare to embark on a cocktail exploration adventure across Singapore. Each bar is a unique stop on this spirited journey, promising delightful surprises along the way. Negroni Week 2023 is set to be a celebration of craftsmanship, charity, and unforgettable flavors.
