Gelato is an Italian frozen dessert that typically includes 6-10 percent butterfat, lower than other frozen desserts. It has 70 percent less air than traditional ice cream, giving it a solidity and richness that sets it apart from other ice creams.

Vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, almond, pistachio, cream (also known as custard), and stracciatella (fior di latte gelato with chocolate chunks) are some of the dessert's most popular flavors. Fior di latte or "milk flower" is pure, unflavored ice cream with no additional eggs. Fruity flavors like raspberry, strawberry, apple, lemon, and pineapple are used in more current flavors.

Nowadays, gelato is known by many people, including Indonesians. You can easily find a lot of gelato shops that provide delicious and authentic gelato in Jakarta. It has been part of Jakartans' go-to dessert choices since it's purportedly healthier.

Here is our version of the five most recommended gelato shops around Jakarta.

Gaya Gelato

Gaya Gelato first opened in Bali. It eventually came to Jakarta in 2017 to deliver gelatos and sorbets free of artificial coloring, chemicals, and preservatives, stirred up fresh from 100 percent quality local ingredients. Locally sourced tastes, including lemongrass, passion fruit, Balinese durian, and tamarillo, are produced and collected on-site.
