In celebration of the 52nd anniversary of PKK (Family Welfare Movement) and to add zest to the 279th anniversary of Solo City, the Solo City Government hosted the Solo Legend Culinary Festival 2024.

Running for four consecutive days from February 29 to March 3, 2024, at the Solo City Hall courtyard, the event marked the first of its kind in Solo. The PKK anniversary, commemorated every March 4th, served as a fitting backdrop for this culinary extravaganza.

The festival kicked off with a vibrant array of activities on its opening day, Thursday, February 29th. The inaugural event included the Solo-style satay variation competition held at Pendhapi Gedhe Solo. PKK representatives from 54 neighborhoods in Solo showcased their culinary prowess in this competition. Additionally, a pancake plating competition, involving students from across the Soloraya region, added youthful enthusiasm to the festivities.

Siti Khotimah, Secretary of the Surakarta Tourism and Culture Office, inaugurated the event, expressing hopes that it would provide entertainment and joy to the community. The festival boasted 60 vendors offering a diverse range of food and beverages to tantalize visitors' taste buds.

The pinnacle of the Solo Legend Culinary Festival 2024 was the Funwalk held on Sunday, March 3rd. This community event welcomed participants from all walks of life, with a registration fee of Rp39,000. Participants received aprons, snacks, beverages, and lottery coupons, with 502 prizes up for grabs.

Prizes included household appliances such as washing machines, water dispensers, stoves, irons, cabinets, bedcovers, pillows, pots, mops, electric bicycles, as well as grocery packages and other assorted gifts.

Looking ahead, Siti Khotimah announced that Solo would host the national PKK Unity Day in May. "In May, we will be welcoming PKK guests from various regions across Indonesia, so we need to prepare from now," she emphasized.

The Solo Legend Culinary Festival 2024 not only celebrated Solo's rich culinary heritage but also fostered community spirit and anticipation for future cultural events. As the festival drew to a close, participants and organizers alike expressed their gratitude for the vibrant celebration of local culture and tradition.
