JAGAD GALLERY, located at Wisma Geha on Jl. Timor 25, Gondangdia Menteng, Central Jakarta, has set the stage for an extraordinary art experience with the launch of the much-anticipated solo exhibition "Castaneda Factor" by artist Daniel Koh. Curated by Jim Supangkat, the exhibition commenced on July 15, 2023, offering art enthusiasts a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Koh's thought-provoking masterpieces.

Jim Supangkat, in his curatorial endeavors, ingeniously chose the title "Castaneda Factor" after engaging in insightful discussions with the artist. Koh disclosed that his artworks are profoundly influenced by the ideas of Carlos Castaneda, which play an integral role in shaping his creative process.

Carlos Castaneda (1925-1998), a renowned author and anthropologist from the University of California (UCLA), penned a series of best-selling books between 1968 and 1998 that captivated readers across Western Europe, the United States, and beyond. His writings, though not fictional, recounted real-life experiences entailing his extraordinary encounters with Juan Matus, a Mexican Indian shaman and expert in the use of peyote, a hallucinogenic mushroom and plant referred to as "fly" during the 60s-70s. Matus eventually became Koh's mentor, and the artist believed that Matus possessed knowledge dating back to an ancient Mexican tradition spanning over 8000 years.

The Castaneda Factor exhibition features a stunning collection of 93 paintings and 20 sculptures, captivating visitors with its profound themes and artistic expressions.
