The artwork of Arief Witjaksana, a trailblazing digital artist and NFT pioneer from Indonesia, is set to take center stage at the Digital Art Week Asia 2023 event in Japan.
Digital Art Week Asia is a prestigious exhibition organized by Shinwa ARTEX, a subsidiary of Shinwa Wise Holdings. This marks the second edition of Digital Art Week Asia following the success of its debut event in February 2022.
The Digital Art Week Asia event is scheduled to run from October 24 to 29, 2023. It will showcase the works of renowned artists from Japan and around the world, with a focus on the theme of 'gamification.'
During this edition of Digital Art Week Asia, Arief Witjaksana, the founder of the web3-based Art Company, Superlative Secret Society (SSS), will present a unique form of artwork known as "phygital."
"Phygital Artwork is a form of artwork that combines physical elements with blockchain NFT technology to protect physical artworks from plagiarism," Arief explained in a written statement on Tuesday (10/17/2023).
With this vision in mind, Arief has created a masterpiece called 'Phygital Artwork,' representing the amalgamation of physical and digital art.
"Each physical painting on display will be equipped with an NFC chip connected as a means of verifying the authenticity of the artwork," he stated.
Arief emphasized that in addition to serving as a tool for verifying the authenticity of paintings, the embedded NFC technology will enhance the viewer's experience when appreciating physical art. He has successfully integrated Augmented Reality (AR) technology into his Phygital artwork.
"This enables art enthusiasts to simultaneously experience the unique fusion of the physical and digital worlds," Arief elaborated.
Born in 1989, Arief Witjaksana made waves in the NFT market with the launch of his artwork through Superlative Secret Society, in the form of NFT collections. He is hailed as a pioneer in Indonesia and boasts a global collector base.
