Previously, we have discussed the third eye, also known as "ajna" or "sixth sense", and how it is believed to be linked to perception, awareness, and spiritual connection. 

Spiritual practitioners argued that the third eye has something to do with the pineal gland, a pea-sized gland shaped like a pine cone and located in the vertebrate brain near the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The gland produces melatonin, which impacts the circadian rhythms and reproductive hormones.

Little is known about the pineal gland other than that. There is no scientific proof that the gland is related to the third eye. However, if you believe that there is a grain of truth in the words of seers or believers who uphold that the third eye is a window to the spiritual world and deeper consciousness and would like to open your third eye yourself, here are several tips that you can try.

Pay attention to your dreams

Dreams can be confusing, broken, beautiful, and terrifying — but don't just shrug them off in the morning upon waking up. Look to them and observe them as it will help you open your third eye. Pay attention to those dreams or even write them down so you can remember them. Try to listen to what it wants to say to you. 

Focus on your meditation

According to spiritual practitioners, meditation is essential to open your third eye. Upon meditating, focus your attention on the point between your eyebrows and observe what images or thoughts arise from that. Those images could be a sign or message. 

Obviously, this cannot open your third eye right away, but practice makes perfect. With more practice, you will be able to understand what messages come with every image you see as your third eye grows stronger. The use of essential oils is also recommended when meditating. Practice breathwork

Breathwork is one of the excellent tools to use in everyday life. Not only could it help open your third eye, but it can also grant health benefits like stable hormones. Opening your third eye will be a tougher challenge if you keep eating junk food. Practitioners believe food choices have a significant impact on chakra alignment. What is consumed governs the energy inside the body. 

Some good choices during your journey to open your third eye are blackberries, blueberries, grapes, purple kale, purple sweet potatoes, and purple cabbage. Additionally, chlorella, spirulina, blue-green algae, raw apple cider vinegar, chlorophyll, cilantro, raw cacao, goji berries, and vitamin D can help to detoxify your pineal gland as well as add to your daily water intake.
