ARTJOG returns to the Jogja National Museum from June 28 to September 1, 2024, inviting art enthusiasts of all ages to explore the theme "Ramalan," the Indonesian word for prophecy. This contemporary art festival will showcase the imaginative works of 48 individual and group artists from Indonesia and around the world, alongside curated pieces from 36 child and youth artists.

The festival's theme, "Ramalan," represents the imaginary thread that links the past, present, and future, urging both artists and visitors to reimagine events and share their visions for the future. For the featured artists, prophecy symbolizes the creative foresight that drives their artistic process.

This year, ARTJOG has commissioned renowned artists Agus Suwage and Titarubi to visualize the theme through interactive installations displayed at the entrance of the exhibition. Suwage's piece features human ear-like objects symbolizing the duality of tolerance in noisy social settings and the necessity of experiencing silence. Adjacent to Suwage's work, Titarubi presents various types of cultivated rice accompanied by recordings of prayers, proverbs, and praises from indigenous groups, symbolizing humanity's understanding of prophecies and the hope for a desired future. This marks the continued collaboration between Suwage and Titarubi since their initial partnership at the 2006 Singapore Biennale.

In addition to the commissioned works, ARTJOG 2024 will feature art from notable artists and collectives, including Japan's Jun Kitazawa, Kolektif Menyusur Eko Prawoto, a collaboration between actor Nicholas Saputra, Happy Salma, and the late Gunawan Maryanto, as well as On Kawara. Kitazawa's piece transforms an iron lump from a Hayabusa fighter plane into a long-tailed kite, reviving memories of the Japanese occupation of Indonesia (1942-1945) and offering choices for a better future.

Running alongside the exhibition, the performa ARTJOG program, supported by Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation, will feature performances from artists like dancer Rianto and the musical group Risky Summerbee & The Honeythief, along with 57 other performers. Rianto's "Journey of the Javanese Body" with Cahwati Sugiarto will explore transitional movements through dance and music, while Risky Summerbee & The Honeythief will deliver an intimate musical performance with scenographer Andi Seno Aji, emphasizing audience participation.

ARTJOG 2024 will also include various supporting programs such as the Young Artist Award, ARTJOG Kids, performa ARTJOG, Exhibition Tour, Meet the Artist, Merchandise Project, Artcare Indonesia, Jogja Art Weeks, and the new Love ARTJOG.

ARTJOG 2024 - Motif: Ramalan is open daily from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Tickets are priced at Rp 75,000 (US$4.66) for adults and Rp 50,000 for children aged 6-15 years.
