Although it's possible to lose weight quickly, maintaining a healthy weight loss program can be challenging.

One common issue with this is that people tend to overwork themselves when trying to lose weight. For instance, if you're not burning enough calories after a regular exercise, you're consuming too many.
Some of these can also impact how much weight loss you can achieve.

Most of us believe that going to the gym three times a week will help us lose weight. However, that is not always true.

Laura Williams, a personal trainer, says that focusing on doing cardio every day is the key to achieving a successful weight loss program. Other experts advise that people do at least 60 to 90 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise each day.

Ideally, you should aim to get in at least two hours of moderate-intensity exercise each day to maintain a healthy and balanced weight loss program. However, if you're not used to this level of exertion, then increasing your intensity and duration may be the solution.

2. Slow metabolism

Slow metabolism is a common issue that people tend to face as they get older. According to experts, the average lifespan of muscle tissue declines by about 4 percent each decade.

If you're still eating the same amount of calories as before, your weight may increase over time. It's essential to improve your metabolism by increasing your exercise and lifting weights.

3. Lack of sleep

A 2018 study revealed that people who sleep less than seven hours a night are more prone to gaining weight.

It's also believed that the lack of sleep can affect a hormone known to regulate hunger and contribute to weight control. Lack of sleep can also make you feel depressed, confused, and angry. It also affects your appetite and activity levels.

To improve your sleep, try to go to bed simultaneously each day. Doing so can help you fall asleep faster and feel more rested.

4. Unrealistic goals

People tend to set unrealistic goals when it comes to losing weight. If they don't consider the other factors that can affect their health, they may end up gaining weight again.

Your doctor can help you set realistic goals and ensure that they're in line with what's best for your body.

If you're currently healthy enough to maintain a healthy weight, it's essential to start focusing on improving how you look after losing weight. Doing so can help you feel more satisfied with how you're eating and living.

5. Having a medical condition

Getting healthy is only part of the process of losing weight. Aside from dieting, people also have to work on managing stress and developing good sleep habits.

Humans can't control their bodies' sex differences, race, and age. If you're not losing weight despite changing your diet and activity level, you may have a medical condition.

Several medications can also be linked to weight gain. If you're experiencing this symptom, talk to your doctor about getting on a medication designed to prevent weight gain.

6. Being stressed
Being stressed is also known to affect your weight-loss program. It can cause you to gain back the lost weight and prevent reaching your goals.

Stress can make people carve for comfort food, increase the production of cortisol, and feel down and constantly tired.

Doing a few minutes of meditative practice each day can help lower your stress levels. It can also help you feel more peaceful. Focusing on deep meditative practice can help decrease binge eating and improve your emotional eating, a study finds.
