The streaming music service Spotify has recently presented its customary year-end wrap-up report Spotify Wrapped. The 2021 iteration, as usual, reveals the world's most listened to songs on the platform.

Spotify has again named Pamungkas as Indonesia's most-listened-to artist this year after topping the list last year. His song, "To The Bone", also topped the Indonesia Top 50 chart as the most listened-to song in Indonesia this year, followed by "Blue Jeans" by Gangga, "Bertaut" by Nadin Amizah, "Lantas" by Juicy Lucy, and "Melukis Senja" by Budi Doremi. To date, each song has been listened to more than 40 million times on the platform.

"I do music independently and have limited resources to introduce my music. But surprisingly, my music can still be found, loved, and listened to by so many people in various countries. The year 2021 provided an unforgettable and humbling experience for me. Honestly, I'm still surprised by this achievement," said Pamungkas.

Aside from Besides Pamungkas, among the most-listened local artists on Spotify, this year are Tulus, Nadin Amizah, Rizky Febian, and Ardhito Pramono.

On the international side of things, the top five most listened to artists globally are Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, BTS, Drake, and Justin Bieber. Idol group and Korean sensation also (predictably) became the top K-Pop artist on Spotify Indonesia and globally. With over seven billion streams this year, BTS has cemented its position as the world's supernova, as well as the most listened to K-Pop artist globally and in Indonesia.

BTS also grabbed the top four spots on the list of most-played K-Pop songs globally with their songs "Butter", "Dynamite", "Permission to Dance", and "Life Goes On".  Their albums "BE", "Love Yourself", "Answer", and "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" also emerged as the three most-streamed K-Pop albums globally. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and love of their fans from all over the world.

Meanwhile, the second most-watched K-pop artist globally this year is BLACKPINK. Their successful hit garnered more than 500 million streams is "How You Like That", which is the only song in the global top five most-played K-Pop songs not performed by BTS. They also entered Indonesia's top five most listened to K-pop artists list, perching comfortably in the third position. BLACKPINK's ROSÉ, who started her solo career this year, took the top spot in the most-played K-Pop songs by solo singers list with her single hit "R".

The platform also continues to launch original and exclusive content in collaboration with a row of talented Indonesian podcasters this year, such as Nadhifa Aliya Tsana and PODKESMAS. Rintik Sedu's podcast by Nadhifa Allya Tsana is the most popular podcast on Spotify Indonesia this year and became the first solo-hosted female podcast to reach the top spot for two consecutive years. Following Rintik Sedu in Indonesia's top 5 podcast list are PODKESMAS, Podcast Hanan Attaki, DESTAnya Who?, and Do You See What I See.
