KIA AMERICA LAUNCHES ROBO DOG NFTS TO HELP PETS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES
Kia's Robo Dogs will be available for public auction on February 18 at sweet.io. All proceed will go to The Petfinder Foundation, a pet adoption agency.
Kia America launched the company's first NFT series, which is based on the character of the company's Super Bowl ad, the "Robo Dog." The goal of the series is to raise awareness for The Petfinder Foundation, which helps pets find their forever homes.
The Petfinder Foundation will receive a ten percent royalty portion of the sales price of each NFT sold on a secondary market. This is done through a smart contract on the blockchain.
The 10,000 Robo Dog Adoption Pass NFTs were made available for free on February 11. They would then be giving the owners access to the presale of 10,000 Robo Dog NFTs that Kia America will start on February 18 at 12 p.m. ET (12 a.m. Western Indonesian Time).

Robo Dog's goals
According to Tom Mizzone, the CEO of Sweet, Kia's goal was to create an experience that's memorable for consumers and their pets.
"After sports, the automotive Marketing space is an obvious area where NFTs can thrive and engage people. There is a long history of people loving their car brands and loving their cars," said Mizzone. "And what I love about the Kia Robo Dog NFT series is how well it ties into our mission here at Sweet and that is: to empower brands like Kia to deploy NFTs to broader consumer bases through engaging experiences."
"As a dog owner myself, I can't think of anything more engaging than the chance to have a Robo Dog of my own as a digital collectible and the opportunity to use NFT technology to help pets find loving homes," Sweet CEO continued.
Due to the rise in pet adoptions, many shelters are seeing an increase in the number of pets surrendered. This is also why Kia wanted to create awareness for finding forever homes for pets.
"Many of us are aware of the increase in pet adoptions as a result of the pandemic," marketing VP at Kia America, Russell Wager, said. "Although tens of thousands of animals have found their forever homes, pet surrenders to shelters are increasing as people return to work and there are many pets whose stories deserve to end as happily as Robo Dog's did in our Super Bowl spot."
