The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) has extended his appreciation for the accomplishments of Indonesian musicians who have made their mark on the international scene, namely Sparkling Singers and Jefri Setiawan.

During "The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno" at the Sapta Pesona Building in Central Jakarta on Monday, August 7, 2023, Minister Sandiaga Uno announced that Jefri Setiawan, an Indonesian musician, has successfully broken the world record for memorizing 170 songs based on their sequence while playing the piano with closed eyes non-stop for the longest duration in the world. This record was achieved while Jefri was in the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai, UAE.

"Jefri will be recognized for three records: World Talent Book, URF Asean, and ABR Icon Award 2023 (Top Talent of the Year)," he stated.

Minister Sandiaga also commended Sparkling Singers, an independent vocal group from Surabaya, who recently emerged victorious in the World Choir Games held in Gangneung, South Korea. They won in the categories of Champion of Pop Ensembles and Champion of Pop Jazz. Moreover, they secured the Grand Prix Finalist title at the Bali International Choir Festival in Bali, Indonesia in July 2023.

"Sparkling Singers currently boast around 50 members, with an average age of 15 years and above," he added.

Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy of Digital Economy and Creative Products at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), stated that collaborative efforts, particularly in terms of promotion, have consistently been undertaken to support and accommodate the creative economy players. This includes initiatives like music sector acceleration and incubation programs.

"Kemenparekraf has also visited various regions to explore the potential of music industry players in leveraging the digital era to effectively market their creations," he explained.

The event was attended by officials from echelons I and II within the Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf environment, both virtually and physically.
