Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Art Basel are thrilled to announce a new three-year global partnership, making HKTB the first tourism organization worldwide to establish a strategic partnership with Art Basel.

The announcement was made during a press conference at Art Basel in Basel, marking a significant milestone for both entities. This collaboration will extend beyond Hong Kong, encompassing all Art Basel fairs globally, starting with Art Basel Paris this October.

As part of this exciting partnership, HKTB will serve as an Art Basel Show Partner, celebrating Hong Kong's art and culture on the world stage. Over the next three years, HKTB will participate in four annual shows, including Art Basel in Paris, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Basel, each featuring unique thematic experiences or activations.

Mr. Dane Cheng, Executive Director of HKTB, stated, "Our strategic partnership with Art Basel underscores our commitment to promoting Hong Kong as a hub for international cultural exchange between East and West, and as a vital gateway to the Chinese art market. By sharing the city's unique character through immersive experiences and exhibitions at the world's most prestigious art platform, we hope to inspire travelers to visit Hong Kong and discover its vibrant creative community and rich cultural experiences."

Noah Horowitz, CEO of Art Basel, added, "We are thrilled to forge this long-term collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board and to launch this ambitious initiative. By globally highlighting Hong Kong's dynamic art scene, this partnership will enhance the experience for our exhibition visitors while opening new opportunities and fostering deeper connections between Hong Kong and the global art community."

Debuting in Hong Kong in 2013, Art Basel has partnered with HKTB on several successful projects since 2020. In March, the tourism board collaborated with the fair to present the local "Cha Chaan Teng" experience, showcasing Hong Kong's vibrant lifestyle culture. Visitors to the specially built, colorful cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style café) enjoyed local delicacies such as pineapple buns and milk tea, experiencing Hong Kong's unique cultural heritage firsthand.

The three-year partnership between the two organizations will kick off with Art Basel Paris, set to take place at the Grand Palais in the French capital from October 18-20, 2024.
