COLDPLAY TO MAKE HISTORY WITH RECORD-BREAKING 10-NIGHT RESIDENCY AT WEMBLEY STADIUM
Coldplay's Landmark Wembley Residency: A Historic Achievement in Live Music and Commitment to Community Support
Coldplay has officially announced an unprecedented 10-night residency at Wembley Stadium next summer, setting a new record that surpasses the previous marks held by Taylor Swift and Take That. The band, originally slated for a six-night run in August, responded to overwhelming demand by adding four additional shows in September.
The general ticket sale is set to commence at 9 am on Friday, September 27, with prices starting at just £20 (plus fees). Unlike other artists who have employed dynamic pricing strategies, Coldplay has opted for fixed ticket prices, ensuring fans can secure tickets at the advertised rate without fluctuations based on demand.
The 2025 tour coincides with the release of the band's highly anticipated 10th album, Moon Music, scheduled for launch on October 4. In addition to the Wembley performances, Coldplay will also play two nights at Hull's Craven Park Stadium, where half of the tickets will be allocated specifically for local fans residing in the HU, YO, DN, or LN postcodes.
These twelve concerts will mark Coldplay’s only European appearances in 2025, with a commitment to donate 10% of the proceeds to the Music Venue Trust, an organization dedicated to supporting small, grassroots concert venues across the UK.
This announcement follows Coldplay's headline performance at the Glastonbury festival earlier this year, where they were joined on stage by notable figures such as Michael J. Fox, Little Simz, Femi Kuti, and Elyanna. The performance received rave reviews, with The Independent calling it "the spectacle of a lifetime" and The Guardian highlighting the "cartoonish good fun" of the set. Movie star Tom Cruise, who watched from a VIP area, simply described the concert as "awesome."
During their Glastonbury set, Coldplay also previewed new songs from Moon Music, with frontman Chris Martin previously hinting that this might be the band's last traditional album. "Our last proper record will come out in 2025 and after that, I think we will only tour,” he told BBC Radio 2's Jo Whiley in 2021. However, he later clarified that the band aims to produce twelve albums, acknowledging the intensity and passion that goes into their music.
The pre-sale tickets for the 2025 tour went live on Thursday morning for fans who had pre-ordered Moon Music, with many reports of the initial batch selling out in approximately 20 minutes. Recognizing the high demand, Coldplay added four extra dates, with pre-sales starting in the afternoon.
With the 10-date residency at Wembley, Coldplay will solidify their status as the band with the most nights played at the iconic stadium in a single year, breaking the previous tie held by Taylor Swift and Take That, who each performed for eight nights.
In addition to breaking records, Coldplay is committed to reducing the environmental impact of their concerts. They recently announced a 59% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared to their previous world tour and are offering £20 "Infinity tickets" for every show, ensuring affordability for fans. A pair of tickets for the Wembley shows will cost around £52, including additional fees.
With excitement building for this landmark event, Coldplay's 2025 tour promises to be a historic celebration of music, community, and environmental responsibility.
