ART JAKARTA GARDENS: WHERE ART AND NATURE CONVERGE
Celebrating Art and Nature: A Harmonious Fusion at Art Jakarta Gardens
Just a few days ago, Art Jakarta Gardens opened its gates to a spectacle of contemporary art set amidst the verdant expanse of Hutan Kota by Plataran, Jakarta. Running from April 23 to 28, 2024, this unique event has been a testament to the seamless integration of artistic expression with the natural world, featuring 23 esteemed galleries alongside 30 captivating outdoor sculptures and installations.
The Fair serves as a platform for collaboration within the art and creative sectors. High-ranking officials like Hilmar Farid, Director General of Culture at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, and Mohammad Amin, Director of Film, Music, and Animation at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, both spoke at the inauguration ceremony, highlighting the event's significance in promoting art appreciation and strengthening the creative economy.
Conceived during the pandemic, Art Jakarta Gardens has flourished into a celebrated annual event. Maulana Indraguna Sutowo, CEO of MRA, expressed his pride in how the Fair provides a space for artistic expression and appreciation. This year promises a wider audience with its signature Sculpture Garden showcasing works by prominent artists across generations, from Indonesian modern masters to younger talents.
Lead Partners Bibit, a digital investment app, and Treasury, Indonesia's first licensed digital application for physical gold trading, contribute to the event's success. Olivia Budiono, Product Marketing Lead of Bibit, emphasizes the importance of accessibility in art appreciation, while Andreas Santoso, CEO of Treasury, unveils a collaboration with artist Naufal Abshar that explores the value of gold.
Featuring a diverse array of artworks displayed indoors and outdoors, Art Jakarta Gardens invites visitors to explore a world of creativity against the backdrop of Jakarta's urban oasis. Plataran Indonesia, the local hospitality group hosting the event at Hutan Kota by Plataran, aligns with the Fair's focus on nature, culture, and community.
To complement the diverse artworks and installations, Art Jakarta Gardens presents a series of special presentations featuring collaborations between Partners and artists. Here's a glimpse into these exciting offerings:
- Bibit x Erwin Windu Pranata: This collaboration presents a site-specific inflatable sculpture titled "The Bouquet: Fall, Grow" designed by Erwin Windu Pranata, a multidisciplinary artist from Bandung. Inspired by the artist's exploration of his own garden, the sculpture serves as a call to appreciate the beauty and impermanence of nature's overlooked wonders.
- Treasury x Naufal Abshar: Artist Naufal Abshar has created "Gold is King," a thought-provoking presentation that combines a limited-edition gold coin with a specially designed installation. The work emphasizes the enduring value of gold throughout history, while the inclusion of a donkey figure symbolizes steadiness and stability in times of uncertainty.
- Xiaomi x Davy Linggar: In collaboration with renowned photographer Davy Linggar, Xiaomi showcases their latest flagship product, the Xiaomi 14, featuring a camera co-engineered with Leica. The exhibition, titled "Face to Face," presents 14 of Linggar's works displayed in a unique outdoor setting, allowing visitors to experience the exceptional quality of the Xiaomi 14 camera.
- Other Partner collaborations enrich the visitor experience with a variety of multimedia presentations. Art Jakarta Gardens welcomes iForte, Indonesia's premiere telecommunications infrastructure and internet service provider, who is presenting Tomy Hersata's "Here, Nowhere Hear." This spatial sound installation features interactive elements that reflect the fragmented nature of our digital age, prompting contemplation on the impact of technology in our lives. Roca, a leading bathroom product company, partners with this/PLAY to present "Luxury Crime (After Agus Suwage)," a multisensory experience that explores themes of isolation and contemplation. The event also features a curated music program by RURUradio Lounge, presented by the Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation. The program will include live music performances over the weekend, featuring artists like White Shoes and the Couples Company, Prontaxan, Keroncong Musyawarah, Rani Jambak, Lair, Lorjhu, and oomleoberkaraoke.
As Art Jakarta Gardens continues to captivate visitors with its stunning displays and immersive experiences, the organizers extend their gratitude to all Partners and stakeholders for their invaluable contributions.
