YOGYAKARTA ABUZZ WITH ASEAN RURAL CULTURE EXPO SHOWCASING REGION'S VIBRANT HERITAGE
Celebrating ASEAN's Rich Heritage: Yogyakarta Hosts Vibrant Rural Culture Expo
Breksi Cliff, the enchanting tourist destination in Yogyakarta, came alive on a Wednesday afternoon, July 26, 2023, as the ASEAN Rural Culture Expo commenced with a grand gathering of people. The scenic surroundings, adorned by iconic temples like the Prambanan Temples, Ratu Boko Temple, and Ijo Temple, provided a picturesque setting for the event, which featured a myriad of craft stands displaying products from various ASEAN countries.
Inaugurating the expo, Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Region, and Transmigration, Abdul Halim Iskandar, highlighted the expo's purpose: to introduce the public to the finest products of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from each ASEAN country.
Halim underlined that the expo proudly showcased products from villages in the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. Representatives from regional-owned enterprises and Indonesian tourist villages also participated, creating an opportunity for local communities and tourists to engage in meaningful dialogue and inquire directly about the production processes behind each village's distinctive offerings.
The ASEAN Rural Culture Expo serves as a vital platform to promote the top products of ASEAN tourist villages while simultaneously preserving the rich cultural heritage and diversity that characterizes the region. Minister Halim expressed his conviction that the event's success would contribute significantly to the continued prosperity of ASEAN's villages.
Moreover, this exhibition empowers participating villages to not only introduce their products but also showcase their unique cultural identity. The expo sets the stage for further collaborations and development agendas, with plans to exchange products, implement the "one village one product" concept, and delve into the realm of digital village development.
As the ASEAN Rural Culture Expo continues to captivate visitors, it embodies the spirit of cross-cultural exchange and mutual appreciation, further strengthening the ties that bind the ASEAN community. Through this celebration of creativity and tradition, the expo's impact will reverberate, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of all attendees.
