The Spain National Day reception in Jakarta was a diplomatic evening hosted by Spanish Ambassador H.E. Mr. Bernardo de Sicart Escoda. It took place on Thursday, 8 October 2026, from 18:30 to 21:00 at Hotel Gran Meliá Jakarta, Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said No. 5-4, South Jakarta.

What is the Spain National Day reception?

It is the embassy’s yearly party for its host country. Embassies use their national day to thank partners, meet officials, and open their doors to the local community.

Spain marks its National Day on 12 October, which is today. The embassy held its Jakarta reception four days early, on a Thursday evening. Weekday timing like this is common in diplomatic calendars, because guests can come straight from work.

The guest list included Indonesian officials, too. Rachmat Pambudy, Indonesia's Minister of National Development Planning and Head of Bappenas, also attended the reception.

When is Spain’s National Day?

Spain’s National Day falls on 12 October every year. In Spanish, it is called Fiesta Nacional de España. According to a post by the account @uni_eropa on the day itself, it marks an important chapter in the country’s shared history and celebrates its cultural identity and diversity, from its many languages to its regional traditions.

This year, 12 October lands on a Monday. The embassy in Jakarta held its reception on Thursday, 8 October, so guests could come after work and the party did not clash with the start of the week.

Where was the reception held?

The venue was Hotel Gran Meliá Jakarta, on Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said, the main road through Kuningan. This is the heart of Jakarta’s embassy and office district. Guests coming from nearby towers could reach it in minutes, in theory. In practice, anyone who has crossed Rasuna Said at 18:00 knows the “minutes” depend on traffic.

The 18:30 start was a smart choice. It gave guests time to beat the worst of the rush before the doors opened.

What makes this event worth a story?

Diplomatic receptions are rarely public, so most people only see the invitation. That is what makes this one useful to read closely. It shows how a small piece of paper sets the tone: formal, personal, and strict about who comes in.

It also shows how Spain and Indonesia meet in the details. A Spanish crest sits above a dress code that starts with Indonesian batik.
