POLAND FESTIVAL: BRIDGING CULTURES AND BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES IN INDONESIA
Strengthening Cultural Bonds and Economic Partnerships Through Innovation and Collaboration
A vibrant celebration of cultural exchange and economic collaboration, the Poland Indonesia Friendship Walk Car Free Day, hosted by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), transformed Bundaran HI into a hub of Polish innovation and tradition. As the centerpiece of the annual Poland Festival, this event reaffirms the enduring partnership between Poland and Indonesia.
Now in its fifth year, the Poland Festival has grown into the largest Polish cultural and trade event in ASEAN, drawing over 500,000 participants since its inception. Combining cultural showcases with business networking opportunities, it reflects a shared commitment to fostering understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
A Festival Rooted in Friendship
The Friendship Walk, held during Jakarta’s Car Free Day, is more than a cultural gathering—it is a symbol of solidarity. Mattia Mulec, Poland’s Ambassador to Indonesia, emphasized its significance: “Friendship has been the cornerstone of Poland and Indonesia’s relationship. As we celebrate 70 years of diplomatic ties and prepare for Poland’s presidency of the EU in 2025, this festival highlights the mutual respect and shared vision for our future.”
From traditional performances to innovative exhibitions, the festival provides a glimpse into Poland’s dynamic industries. Cezary Filipek, PAIH Jakarta Manager, described the event’s broader mission: “Poland Festival is not just about showcasing our culture; it’s about building meaningful connections. In business, as in diplomacy, friendship is the foundation of success.”
Showcasing Poland’s Potential
The festival’s diverse programs have something for everyone—from students and entrepreneurs to policymakers. Highlights include:
- Polish Education Roadshow: In partnership with Koding Next, this initiative introduces Indonesian students to the world-class education system in Poland.
- IGDX Gaming Expo: A collaboration with the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) that fosters innovation and partnership in the gaming industry.
- FMCG Promotions: Exclusive deals from Polish brands, paired with business matching sessions to connect Polish and Indonesian enterprises.
- Community Engagement at Friendship Walk: A lively event during Car Free Day, bringing people together to celebrate the bond between the two nations.
- Expanding Economic Horizons
Since its launch in 2019, the Poland Festival has become a strategic platform for enhancing trade and collaboration. Polish brands in the FMCG sector have seen a fivefold increase in their Indonesian market presence, while educational exchanges have grown significantly, with Indonesian students pursuing scholarships in Poland.
“This festival represents Poland’s vision for long-term collaboration,” said Jacek Kolomyjec, Head of PAIH Jakarta. “It is a platform for dialogue, innovation, and growth—an opportunity for both countries to learn from each other and build a sustainable future.”
Looking Ahead
As Poland prepares to assume the EU presidency in 2025, the festival highlights areas for future cooperation, including green development, sustainable transportation, and creative industries. The upcoming 70th anniversary of Poland-Indonesia diplomatic relations promises to deepen ties further.
With its dynamic programming and enduring mission, the Poland Festival stands as a testament to what two nations can achieve through collaboration and mutual respect.
