Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, renowned for its exceptional gastronomic offerings, is thrilled to unveil its latest addition to the culinary scene. Giovanni's, an enchanting outdoor-only Italian restaurant, opened its doors on May 27th.
Nestled amidst the lush gardens beneath the shade of maritime pines, Giovanni's invites resident guests to indulge in the finest Italian cuisine crafted by Executive Chef Sebastien Broda, Sicilian chef Marco Tringale, and renowned pizzaiolo Jeremy Viale, a two-time World Pizza Champion.
Immersed in a verdant grove adjacent to the hotel's iconic seaside cabanas, Giovanni's exudes intimacy and charm. With a capacity of 60 guests, this enchanting restaurant offers an elegant outdoor ambiance designed by renowned interior designer Patricia Anastassiadis and architect Luc Svetchine.
The Atmosphere
Underneath a pergola adorned with creeping vines, tables are thoughtfully arranged around a central fountain, evoking the ambiance of an Italian piazza. The open-air kitchen showcases the pizzaiolo meticulously crafting each pizza to order, before baking it to perfection in the pizza oven.
The color palette of Giovanni's harmoniously blends with the surrounding nature. Lava stone tables, in a pristine white hue, complement the soft tones of green found in the Italian handcrafted wicker chairs by Maison Bonacina. The plates, proudly bearing the signature "Giovanni's," are artfully created by Popolo, an artisanal French ceramics producer based in Sicily. The restaurant owes its name to Giovanni Rizzi, a beloved member of the hotel's team, who has dedicated 47 years of his career to Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, captivating guests with his warmth and effortless hospitality.
As the night unfolds and the sky reveals its celestial splendor, carefully curated lighting gently illuminates the restaurant, ensuring it complements the brilliance of the stars and moon above.
The Menu
Executive Chef Sebastien Broda, in collaboration with Chef Marco Tringali and Consultant Chef Jeremy Viale, has curated a menu that showcases emblematic Italian dishes designed for sharing. Guests can indulge in traditional antipasti, including burrata, Sicilian artichokes, and grilled marinated vegetables. The signature primi specials feature pasta Occhio di Lupo with San Marzano tomatoes and Perugine sausages, as well as a vegetarian pizza adorned with pesto and courgette flowers. For those with hearty appetites, the secondi dishes include the chef's osso buco, Saint-Pierre filet from Ligure with violet artichokes, tomatoes, capers, and basil, or Giovanni's giant king prawns served with eggplant caponatina.
To satisfy the sweet tooth, the dessert menu offers delights such as rum baba served generously by the ladleful, tiramisu for sharing, and the ultimate indulgence: Giovanni's cup.
