BMW Motorrad has just launched its first electric motorcycle, the CE 04. The concept of this bike was actually shown in 2017 under the name BMW Motorrad Concept Link, and now the bike can be ordered by fans of the BMW brand.

BMW Motorrad revealed that the presence of this electric motorcycle further strengthens the concept of environmentally friendly mobility that BMW is pursuing. This model is also a new chapter for the German manufacturer to play in the electric bike market.

Let's talk about the design. Since its presence as a concept motorcycle a few years ago, the CE 04 has looked futuristic. The design feels very futuristic for the size of an urban scooter, especially from the design of the floating seat.

BMW gives a touch of Light White paint combined with matt black in some parts of the scooter. Regarding lighting, the main lights and stop lights already use the latest LED technology. The Headlight Pro feature is also provided to provide maximum lighting when driving at night, especially when turning.

The steering handlebar also doesn't miss a touch of the future. BMW embeds a 10.25 inch TFT screen that is already colored and can access navigation maps and the driver's mobile phone connectivity. This screen is also useful as a cluster meter to show various scooter functions such as speedometer, fuel gauge, and engine speed.

Now talking about the electric motor. BMW CE 04 uses a 42 hp electric motor. This motor is capable of propelling the scooter from 0 to 50 km per hour in 2.6 seconds and has a maximum speed of 120 km per hour.

The CE 04 uses a 60.6 Ah battery which is capable of providing a range of 130 km. This distance is sufficient for the daily needs of motorists in urban areas or just walking on Sunday mornings without worrying about running out of energy.

This CE 04 electric motor technology includes a permanent magnet electric motor mounted on the motor frame, precisely between the battery and the rear wheel. This is similar to the technology used in BMW electric cars. BMW Motorrad has done many tests to develop this electric motor, especially when facing various road conditions.

The CE 04 lithium-ion battery can be fully charged for 4 hours and 20 minutes. Charging can be done at electric charging stations that are scattered in various cities. Fast charge mode for 6.9 kW output lasts only 1 hour 40 minutes from an empty battery state.

BMW Motorrad provides three types of charging cables for home or fast charging. Like the services offered to consumers of its electric cars, BMW provides CE 04 consumers with options for charging at home, on the road, and in the office.

The driving features are quite a lot, like the BMW Motorrad scooter model with a conventional engine. There are features of Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). ASC keeps the engine power output from slipping the rear tires.

In addition, there are driving modes that the driver can choose from for various road situations. There are "ECO", "Rain", "Road", and "Dynamic" modes. These modes can be selected according to your needs, whether you want to drive maximum fun or drive maximum fuel economy.

Another specification is the frame uses tubular steel. The front suspension uses a telescopic tube with a diameter of 35 mm. The rear tire is mounted on a single swing arm which is the foundation of the rear suspension. The front tire sizes are 120/70 R15 67H, and the rear tires are 160/60 R15 56H.

Maximum braking features come from twin disc brakes at the front and single disc brakes at the rear tires. This motorbike already uses ABS braking, which is paired with sensors that work when the motor turns to offer greater driving safety.

Like other BMW Motorrad products, potential customers of the CE 04 will also get a choice of official accessories. This will make the CE 04 look more impressive when passing through urban roads.
