As Bali braces for the arrival of over a million tourists during the Christmas season, officials are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of visitors. From increased police presence to strategic traffic control measures, the island is geared up to handle the holiday rush.

The Badung Regency Transportation Department has announced the deployment of additional personnel along key traffic routes and around the top resorts in Canggu, Seminyak, Legian, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Uluwatu. A total of 164 operational officers will be on duty, working in three shifts to manage the expected surge in traffic and enhance security.

A. A Ngurah Rai Yuda Darma, Head of the Badung Regency Transportation Agency, assured reporters that a coordinated effort involving officers from across the island is in place. He emphasized the need for vigilance, stating, "The assignment of Dishub operational personnel is prepared in three shifts for each day at service posts and security protests with two people assigned to each shift."

With the majority of domestic tourists traveling to Bali through the Gilimanuk seaport, traffic is anticipated to increase in the Kuta area and other tourist hotspots in South Badung. Authorities are working tirelessly to minimize potential congestion during the Nataru (Christmas and New Year) celebrations.

In response to the anticipated surge in visitors, Bali's Search and Rescue Officer (Barnasas) has implemented a Special SAR Alert for 21 days, running from December 18, 2023, to January 7, 2024. Nyoman Sidakarya, Head of Denpasar Basarnas, urged tourists to stay informed and report any issues promptly, emphasizing the importance of quick responses in situations that could endanger human life.

As the island's beaches become crowded with holidaymakers, the provincial search and rescue teams have committed to increasing personnel during the festive season. However, tourists are reminded that many popular beaches lack lifeguards and warning systems. Lifeguard and Surf Rescue stations are concentrated in Seminyak, Legian, and Kuta, with limited coverage in Canggu, Jimbaran, and Uluwatu.

Tourists heading to Nusa Penida are particularly cautioned about the clifftops of popular viewpoints, including Kelingking Beach and Diamond Beach, where a powerful undercurrent has resulted in accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Swimming is strongly discouraged at these locations.

Tour operators across Bali are under strict instructions from the provincial government and the Bali Tourism Office to prioritize safety and security. Tjokorda Bagus Pemayun, Head of the Bali Tourism Office, confirmed that Tourism Task Forces will be actively patrolling the island's top destinations throughout the festive period, underscoring the commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday experience for all visitors.
