YOASOBI, the musical sensation from Japan, continues to break records with their hit song "Idol," the opening theme of the popular Oshi no Ko TV anime. Oricon and Sony Music have announced that "Idol" has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the fastest song in Oricon chart history to surpass 400 million streams. Moreover, the single holds the distinction of being the first song to accumulate over 10 million streams for 19 consecutive weeks, surpassing even Official HIGE DANdism's previous record of 18 weeks with "Subtitle."

As of August 22, 2023, "Idol" by YOASOBI has been streamed an astonishing 403,127,806 times, with an impressive 16,618,575 streams added in the last week alone. The song's dominance on the charts has been unwavering since its debut 19 weeks ago, marking the third-longest streak ever recorded.

This achievement marks YOASOBI's fourth song to achieve the remarkable milestone of 400 million streams, joining the ranks of "Into The Night" with over 800 million streams, as well as "Monster" and "Ultramarine," each boasting over 500 million streams. YOASOBI's accomplishments in this regard are second only to Official HIGE DANdism, who boasts five songs that have surpassed the 400 million stream mark.

"Idol" has not only broken the record for being the fastest song to reach 400 million streams in 19 weeks, but it has also achieved similar feats for the milestones of 100 million, 200 million, and 300 million streams.

The song "Idol" serves as the opening theme for the Oshi no Ko TV anime, which is currently available for streaming on HIDIVE. The show has garnered significant attention, leading to the announcement of a second season following the conclusion of the first season in Japan. The anime is based on a manga written by Aka Akasaka (known for "Kaguya-sama: Love is War") and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari ("Scum's Wish"). The manga is serialized in Weekly Young Jump in Japan, while the official English version is digitally published by Manga Plus.

The anime series delves into the world of showbiz, where lies are wielded as weapons. Goro, an OB-GYN living in the countryside, crosses paths with his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino, in an unexpected manner, setting the stage for an intriguing narrative that sheds new light on the entertainment industry. The collaboration between Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari presents a fresh perspective on the world of showbiz, captivating audiences with its unique storytelling.

With YOASOBI's "Idol" making history and leaving an indelible mark on the music scene, the group's impact continues to resonate both in Japan and beyond.
