VOB: A FEMALE METAL BAND FROM GARUT ANNOUNCES A EUROPEAN TOUR

History of VoB
These three young people from Garut attracted the attention of the world a few years ago. Their video performance on stage was commented on by seniors in the international rock and metal music scene. Many admitted that they really admired what VoB did, especially with the choice of music that was not commonly studied by women with hijabs.
Their popularity was helped by their efforts to display stage videos in Youtube format. VoB often covered the song Rage Against The Machine, which later increased their popularity. After that, the music of famous bands such as Red Hot Chili Papers, Metallica and Slipknot managed to get their attention.
VoB itself was formed in 2014 in Garut, West Java. Baceprot is a Sundanese word that means noisy. The meaning of loud was chosen to represent the type of music that was carried by VoB. In addition, Baceprot itself is the name of the theatre club where VoB personnel first met.

"Wearing the hijab is not an obstacle for us to pursue our dreams as musicians. We are free to express ourselves through rock music and at the same time fulfil our responsibilities as Muslims," said Firda.
The beginning of this group is a school music group that was formed to participate in inter-school music competitions. The music that they carry is also not as loud as it is now, still music with Islamic nuances. Initially, their members numbered more than seven people, but then it was reduced due to the prohibition of their parents. After the remaining three personnel, they finally formed VoB.
VoB has been under the spotlight of foreign media from The Guardian, BBC, Reuters, Metal Injection, The New York Times to NPR several times. VoB was appointed to represent Indonesia at the International Women's Day event at the Women of The World (WOW) Festival UK 2021.
