Crying is one way to relief stress and, these K-dramas will 100% make you cry your eyes out.

Sometimes, all it takes is a good cry to release stress that has been building up inside your heart for a while. However, not everyone can cry on demand, which is why these K-dramas will help you relieve some of your stress.

By the end of each episode, you are guaranteed to feel much relief after shedding so many tears. Here are three tear-jerking K-dramas that should be on your watch list.

Hi Bye, Mama


Hi Bye, Mama is a 2020 drama series by tvN with director Yoo Je-won, who is known for directing “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” (2021) and “Abyss” (2019) with writer Kwon Hye-Joo. Kim Tae-hee, famous for her award-winning role in “Yong-Pal” (2015) takes the role of Cha Yu-ri with Lee Kyu-hyung, known for roles in “All of Us Are Dead” (2021) and “Prison Playbook” (2017-2018) as Jo Kang-hwa. 

Cha Yu-ri (Kim Tae-hee) passed away in a tragic incident, leaving her husband Jo Kang-hwa (Lee Kyu-hyung) and their young daughter behind. However, she is unable to move on because she cannot leave her daughter behind. So, she becomes a ghost for 49 days to tie up any loose ends she couldn’t do before her death. 

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo 


It first premiered in 2016 featuring IU, a Korean beloved soloist and Lee Joon-gi, who is known for his role in “Flower of Evil” (2020). Several stars also appeared in this drama like the member of Korean K-pop band EXO, Baekhyun, “When the Camellia Blooms” (2020) star Kang Ha-neul and others. 

Hae Soo (IU) was sent back to the Goryeo era where she meets the fourth prince Wang So (Lee Joon-gi), who is feared and misunderstood by those around him. But things are not what it seems as Hae Soo is left heartbroken when she realized that her love is unrequited as Wang So chose his duty over love. 

Mr. Sunshine


Mr. Sunshine tells the story of Eugene Choi, played by Lee Byung Hun, and Go Ae Shin, played by Kim Tae Ri, set in the early 1900s. Lee Byung Hun is known for his role in “Squid Game” (2021), “The Man Standing Next” (2020), and others while Kim Tae-ri is known for her roles in “Twenty Five Twenty One” (2022) and “Space Sweepers” (2021). Other cast includes Yoo Yeon-seok,  Kim Min-jung, and Byun Yo-han. 

Eugene Choi was born into slavery during the Joseon era that escaped to the United States. He becomes the Captain of the Marine Corps and returns to his country as a Marine Corps officer. There, he meets Go Ae Shin, a noblewoman who is part of the Righteous Army, and slowly falls in love with her. Their love story is made complicated by their class differences and Go Ae Shin’s betrothed, Kim Hui-seong (Byun Yo-han).
