The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Indonesia held the King's Day celebration at the Erasmus Huis in South Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Due to the coinciding celebration of Eid al-Fitr, the event was postponed in Indonesia, while the Netherlands typically celebrates it on April 27th.

The event was attended by important guests, including the Dutch Ambassador for Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Lambert Grijns, the Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and members of the Dutch community in Jakarta.

During the celebration, the expansion of Dutch-Indonesian cooperation in vaccine production and the transition to green energy were highlighted. The celebration was hosted by the Erasmus Huis Dutch Cultural Center in Jakarta and was enlivened by the presence of Ambassador Grijns and Minister Sadikin.

In his speech, Ambassador Grijns highlighted the crisis currently taking place in Europe due to the war. He emphasized that Indonesia and the Netherlands share similar views on upholding national sovereignty. He expressed his appreciation for Indonesia as a friend and his honor to be the ambassador in a country that he loves.

Furthermore, Grijns mentioned the expansion of investment cooperation in the health sector between the Indonesian government and the Netherlands to face the ongoing global crisis. He also expressed support for Indonesia as a vaccine producer.

Responding to Grijns' call, Minister Sadikin thanked the Netherlands for their support and swift response when Indonesia was hit by the vaccine crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The King's Day celebration at Erasmus Huis also promoted the transition to green energy with its 'orange goes green' theme. The traditional orange of King's Day was combined with green to symbolize environmental awareness. Grijns also pointed out that the event was environmentally friendly and didn't use plastic materials.
