ArtMoments Jakarta 2024 has successfully wrapped up its run from August 9-11, 2024, at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel, captivating art enthusiasts and collectors alike. This year’s theme, “Renewal,” resonated deeply with visitors as the exhibition explored themes of personal growth, social transformation, cultural revival, technological advancement, and environmental sustainability.

Dr. Sendy Widjaja, Co-Founder and Fair Director, reflected on the success of the event, stating, “ArtMoments Jakarta has once again proven itself as a dynamic platform for artists and galleries to inspire and challenge audiences with works that reflect the multifaceted theme of ‘Renewal.’” The event showcased a carefully curated selection of artworks, reinforcing Indonesia’s presence on the international art stage and leaving a lasting impression on visitors.

A Focus on Sustainability

This year marked a significant step toward sustainability, with ArtMoments Jakarta adopting eco-friendly practices, including the use of recycled panels and energy-saving LED lights. Widjaja emphasized the importance of these initiatives, saying, “By reducing our carbon footprint, we are not only promoting environmental awareness but also setting the standard for future art exhibitions in Indonesia.”

Spotlight on International and Local Artists

A highlight of the event was the diverse lineup of featured artists. Aboudia, a prominent contemporary artist of American-Ivorian descent, showcased his vibrant and politically charged works. Indonesian artist Heri Dono once again captured the audience’s imagination with his innovative installations, while Filipino artist Pongbayog and Chinese sculptor Ren Zhe brought an international flair to the exhibition. Visitors were treated to a rich blend of modern, contemporary, and new media art.

The event opened with a special art performance by Heri Dono, setting the tone for the weekend’s showcase of over 50 national and international galleries. Expert-led discussions and networking opportunities provided valuable insights into the art world, while an auction in partnership with the S. Sudjojono Center and Larasati Auction House attracted significant attention.

ArtWonders: Supporting Emerging Artists

Adding to the event’s success was ArtWonders, a collaboration between ArtMoments and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, as well as the Department of Culture and Creative Economy of DKI Jakarta Province. This initiative spotlighted emerging artists from Eastern Indonesia through the AKSILARASI Mandalika program, further supporting the development of Indonesia’s creative economy.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, praised the event, stating, “ArtMoments Jakarta 2024 showcased the best of local and international art, encouraging all of us to continue supporting the growth of the Indonesian art scene.”

Visitors to ArtMoments Jakarta 2024 praised the exhibition’s focus on both art and sustainability, as well as the opportunities for collectors to acquire unique pieces. BCA cardholders particularly enjoyed exclusive offers, including cashback and installment plans, which helped make the event accessible to a wider audience.

As the curtains close on ArtMoments Jakarta 2024, the event has once again solidified its reputation as a leading platform for contemporary art in Indonesia. With plans already in the works for next year, the future looks bright for both the fair and the local art community.
