ARCHIPELAGO INTERNATIONAL CELEBRATES INDONESIAN CULINARY HERITAGE AT 28TH FOOD FESTIVAL

The Festival showcases a delightful array of regional delicacies from across the archipelago.

Archipelago International, Indonesia’s leading hotel management company, held its 28th Food Festival at the Royal Malioboro by ASTON in Yogyakarta on Friday, October 6, 2023. Themed “Pesona Rasa Nusantara” (Enchantment of the Nusantara Taste), the festival showcased a delightful array of regional delicacies from across the Indonesian archipelago, prepared by 12 talented Executive Chefs from Archipelago International hotels.

The event was graced by the presence of Yuna Pancawati, who represented the Governor of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. In her speech, she welcomed and appreciated culinary festival activities like the Archipelago Food Festival, which were elegantly organized and promoted the rich culinary heritage of Indonesia.

“We are delighted to host the Archipelago Food Festival in various regions of Indonesia, and holding it in DIY Yogyakarta this time is especially significant as it coincides with the city’s anniversary,” said Winston Hanes, Vice President of Operations, Archipelago International. “Our main goal is to introduce Indonesia’s rich culinary heritage and highlight the exceptional abilities of our skilled team to our guests across the region.”

The festival featured a diverse menu of dishes from East Nusa Tenggara, Lombok, Bali, East Java, Central Java & Yogyakarta, West Java, Sumatra, and other regions in Indonesia. Some of the signature dishes that were on offer included Sambal Teri NTT, Sei Sapi, Kolo, Ayam Taliwang, Sayur Ares, Nasi Balap Puyung, Sambal Beberuk, Ayam Pelalah, Ayam Betutu, Sate Lilit, Kambing Guling Bumbu Bali, Rawon Surabaya, Bakwan Malang, Pecel Madiun, Nasi Liwet Solo, Sate Klathak, Bakmi Jawa, Nasi Goreng Magelangan, and many more.

In addition to the main courses, there were also a variety of appetizers and desserts to choose from. Guests enjoyed sampling the delicious food and drinks while listening to live music and participating in fun games and activities.

The Archipelago Food Festival was a resounding success, with over 200 people attending the event. It was a truly enriching and memorable experience for all involved, celebrating the diverse culinary heritage of Indonesia and fostering unity and appreciation among people from different parts of the country.

The festival also served a dual purpose of establishing the Royal Malioboro by ASTON as a prominent culinary destination in Yogyakarta and providing a meaningful opportunity for migrants from various regions of Indonesia residing in Yogyakarta to reconnect with the tastes of their hometowns.

It is hoped that the Archipelago Food Festival will continue to be an eagerly anticipated annual tradition in Yogyakarta.
