A UK-based price comparison website launched in 2008, money.co.uk, recently conducted a new study aiming to rank the 50 most beautiful places on earth. The ranking is done by analyzing the quality and quantity of natural wonders in each location, from coral reefs and tropical rainforests to volcanoes, glaciers and more.

Coming in at the top of the list as the most beautiful place on earth in Indonesia. Championing its lush islands and seas, Indonesia nails to get a natural beauty score of 7.77 out of 10. Indonesia, known to be home to more than 17,000 islands, defends this position whilst fighting to preserve its land and sea beauties, such is the case with Wadas, Rupat Island, Rinca Island, and so forth.

Some of the other natural attractions that helped propel Indonesia to the top of the list include Komodo National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site currently under turmoil for the development of the 'new Jurassic Park', the lush tropical forests in Sumatra, and Kalimantan, home to an orangutan reserve.

“And just off the shores of these islands, you’ll find over 31,000 square miles of coral reef, teeming with life, much of which can be explored from the popular province of Bali,” says Sal Haqqi, personal finance editor at money.co.uk.

Other countries with natural wonders
Second on the list of the world’s most beautiful places is New Zealand. Known for its mountain peaks, rolling hills and a number of glaciers and active volcanoes, New Zealand has a natural beauty score of 7.27 out of 10. It’s no surprise that so many movies, including the legendary The Lord of the Rings, have been filmed here.

Next up is Colombia, which has a long coastline similar to Indonesia and New Zealand. Colombia is also known for its varied landscapes, from the Amazon to the Andes.

“While beauty is ultimately subjective, it’s clear that these countries have a lot to offer visitors, whether you prefer adventuring in the mountains or relaxing by the coast,” says Haqqi.
