INDONESIA’S BADMINTON ATHLETES FLOURISHED AT STYRIAN INTERNATIONAL 2021
It's just the beginning of Indonesia’s victory and success in the future.
The Indonesian badminton team has flourished by becoming the winner for Men’s Singles and Women’s Doubles at the 2021 Styrian International/Austrian Open which was held in Graz, 27 – 30 May 2021.
Panji Ahmad Maulana from Candra Wijaya International Center managed to win a match over French men's singles player, Arnaud Merkle in three sets with a score of 11-21, 21-8, 21-15.
Meanwhile, representatives from PB Djarum, Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istarani/Serena Kani managed to defeat the Malaysian women's doubles, Anna Chin Yik Cheong/Yap Cheng Wen with a score of 21-11, 21-16.
“Today you guys have become Indonesian sports diplomats. Diplomats who bring and raise the name of Indonesia in the international competition," said the Indonesian Ambassador to Austria and Slovenia, Dr. Darmansjah Djumala, who was present in the semifinals and finals of the 2021 Styrian International/Austrian Open 2021.
During the meet-up, Dr. Darmansjah Djumala also stated that the victory is just the beginning of the other victories and successes for Indonesian athletes in the future.
"The 2021 Styrian International has been carried out successfully, and it is hoped that it will become an annual badminton match in Austria in addition to the Austrian Open," said Alexander Almer, project manager of Styrian International 2021/Austrian Open 2021.
Styrian International 2021, is a badminton competition that is part of the 2021 Austrian Open, held in Graz, Austria, and has been attended by 285 players from 37 countries.
