Indonesian Students Explore Educational Opportunities and Win a Trip to Hungary

The Embassy of Hungary in Jakarta hosted the “Hungary Welcomes the World: Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship and Career Expo” on October 14, 2023, at the Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu Public Library. The event attracted hundreds of Indonesian students interested in studying in Europe, specifically in Hungary.

The event kicked off with the inauguration of the “Hungarian Book Corner” at the Taman Literasi Martha Christina Tiahahu Public Library. This initiative aims to foster cultural exchange through Hungarian literature, political and biographical books.

Distinguished speakers, including H.E. Lilla Karsay, Ambassador of Hungary, H.E. Mr. Moeldoko, Chief of Presidential Staff of the Republic of Indonesia (TBC), representative of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, dr. Widyastuti, MKM, Assistant to the People's Welfare of the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province, and Mr. Putra Hutama from Ikatan Alumni Hongaria, delivered opening remarks.

The event also featured informative sessions on the prestigious Stipendium Hungaricum (SH) scholarship program, the IISMA and IISMAVO scholarship programs, and the benefits of studying in Europe. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in a panel discussion with Hungarian alumni and representatives from the Embassy of Hungary and the Indonesian government.

Throughout the day, participants could explore booths offering networking opportunities and further information about the Stipendium Hungaricum program. They could also get one-on-one guidance from Embassy and Markija staff, interact with Stipendium Hungaricum alumni to learn about student life in Hungary, and receive expert advice on crafting impressive resumes for job or scholarship applications.

The event concluded with a lucky draw, where one lucky participant won a return ticket to Hungary, courtesy of Turkish Airlines.

The “Hungary Welcomes the World: Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship and Career Expo” was a resounding success, providing Indonesian students with a wealth of information and resources to help them achieve their dreams of studying abroad.
