For the first time globally, Honda introduced the Honda SUV RS Concept at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), held from November 11-21, 2021, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang. The Honda SUV RS Concept is a compact SUV that combines a more sporty character, pleasant driving performance, and technological sophistication.

The Honda SUV RS Concept also marks the first time Honda in Indonesia has featured the RS variant on an SUV model. Honda applies the RS logo to its product variants that have a more sporty character. Several Honda models in Indonesia with the RS variant are the Honda Brio, Honda Mobilio, Honda City Hatchback, and All-New Honda Civic.

Takehiro Watanabe, President Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor, said that the SUV segment grows in Indonesia. Consumers prefer a more sporty car character to suit various activities and road conditions.

"Honda SUV RS Concept is here as our vision of how a Sport Utility Vehicle becomes more sporty by applying the RS character which has been very well received by consumers in Indonesia. We are very proud to make Indonesia the first in the world to introduce the Honda SUV RS Concept,” said Watanabe.

The concept car developed as a collaboration between Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. and the Honda team in Indonesia displays a sporty exterior design that fits Honda's DNA in a compact SUV platform. From the exterior, the Honda SUV RS Concept appears with a slim body, sharp and solid lines, and a grille that blends with the body, which further strengthens its sporty character.

Honda has provided no information for this SUV, including the engine, features, and technology provided. The production version will likely be present in 2022. The presence of the RS Concept SUV shows the SUV market that continues to grow. Several SUV products come with the exact dimensions as the RS Concept SUV, such as Rocky, Raize, Kiger, Magnite, Sonet, and the latest Creta.

In addition to the Honda SUV RS Concept, the Honda booth also featured 24 cars with an area of 2,394 square meters, including the latest model, All New Honda BR-V, which was launched virtually last September. For the first time, consumers can see firsthand the various variants of the All-New Honda BR-V at the motor show this time.
