No doubt that Bali is the most favorite tourism destination in Indonesia. But did you know that we also have another hidden paradise, which is Nusa Lembongan? It is located southeast of Bali, Indonesia, and one of three islands group called the Nusa Penida district. Those are part of the Lesser Sunda Islands.

If you have a vacation plan in Bali, you should put Nusa Lembongan among the top things to visit! It is becoming a popular destination and has the most enjoyable attractions around.

This island is a world away from the hassle and hectic pace of Bali. You will find plenty of things to do. So if you are still hesitating, we have listed 8 reasons to choose Nusa Lembongan as a destination for your holiday trip.

When we read Jackson's blog, a travel writer from Australia, we find out the list of awesome things on Nusa Lembongan with a backpacker budget. We think that it would be great to share his story with you.

How to get to Nusa Lembongan

The ferry leaves multiple times per day from Sanur (East Bali). If you book it in advance, you can often have your pick-up from the hotel included. To book it online in advance for the guaranteed lowest price, click the link below to reserve your ticket.

In Bali, but still want to spend a day experiencing how epic Nusa Lembongan is, you can take a day trip on a speedboat to Lembongan and tour around the sights for the day with a guide before returning to Bali in the evening.  The top-rated Nusa Lembongan Day Tour includes hotel pick-up and drop-off from Bali, lunch, boat transfers, and your snorkel guide, all while traveling in style on a luxury catamaran.

Dream beach

Dream Beach is the most famous stretch of sand on the island of Nusa Lembongan. Cliffs enclose the small bay on either side, and the crystal clear water exposes a nice reef below the surface. Bars and hotels line the beach in what has become a very touristy location.

It would be best if you came early in the morning. Tourists generally don’t get out and about until after their hotel breakfast. Before 10 A.M., this beach is much quieter. You can explore the bay at your leisure.

Venture down the side of the bay. There is one spot that all the tourists seem to love. The coastline in between Devil’s Tears and Dream Beach is a cool little area to explore. Venture along the coast for a couple of minutes, and you will find lots of significant little rocky outcrops for chills and photos. We even discovered a few spots with deep water below and managed to get some cliff jumping in!

Sandy Bay

Set in Nusa Lembongan, 701 m from Mushroom Bay Beach and a few steps from Devil's Tear, Villa Sari at Sandy Bay offers accommodations with free WiFi, air conditioning, an outdoor swimming pool, and a garden. Guests may go for a swim in the private pool.

This beach is the main strip and the longest beach on Nusa Lembongan. All of the wooden tour boats and fishing vessels moor here. There is a surf break out quite a far way if you are keen to hit the swell. We would come to Jungut Batu for the sunset almost every night, and one of the nights was an absolute gem.

The sky filled with electric orange and vibrant yellows. The beauty of walking along this beach is that Mt Agung is always looming in the background. The volcano last erupted in 1963, but it is still an imposing feature in the distance. Sunset here is a must when considering things to do on Nusa Lembongan!

Mushroom Bay was an excellent spot to grab a bite, hang out in a relaxed atmosphere and even rent a SUP board. It had a great family or calm atmosphere to the entire bay with a range of restaurants along the strip.

Hanging out on this beach is one of the most relaxing things to do on Nusa Lembongan. You managed to find a $4 Margherita pizza from a fancy restaurant overlooking the bay.

Sounds good, right?
