That is what Dimas Andika Muflihulafi did in Limassol, Cyprus, and it ended with a new national record.

He competed in Constant Weight (CWT) and reached 85 meters on a single breath, as reported in October 2026. The judges gave him a white card, which means the dive was official.

What is the New indonesian freediving record?
The record is 85 meters in Constant Weight. In this event, the diver swims down and back up using only fins and muscle. Pulling on the rope is not allowed.
This is the hardest kind of dive to pull off cleanly. The diver cannot cheat gravity or use the rope for help.
How deep is 85 meters, really?
It is about the height of a 28-story building, with a 3-meter floor height. Now put that building underwater.
At that depth, the pressure is about 9.5 times what you feel at the surface. A diver’s lungs shrink to roughly a tenth of their normal size.
That is the surprising part. The human body is not built for this, yet trained freedivers keep going deeper.
What does a white card mean?
A white card is the judges’ green light. It means the diver surfaced, stayed in control, and followed every rule.
Without it, the depth does not count. A diver can reach 85 meters and still go home with nothing.
Is this Dimas’s first record this year?
No. In September 2026, Dimas also broke a national record in Free Immersion (FIM) at the Manado Depth Championship. He reached 81 meters.
In Free Immersion, the diver pulls along the rope on the way down and up. It is a different discipline, but it shows the same trend. Dimas has now set two national records in one year.
Why does this matter for Indonesian sport?
Indonesia is an archipelago with more than 17,000 islands, yet deep freediving is still a niche sport here. A record at a world championship puts the sport on more people’s radar.
