An Indonesian designer is exhibiting at the world's biggest footwear trade show  and SOGO, Galeries Lafayette, and Prabu Indonesia are sending buyers to watch him do it.

A shoe fair doesn't usually change how a country's fashion industry sees itself. But when Mario Minardi walks into Fiera Milano Rho this September as one of the exhibitors, it will mark something Indonesian footwear hasn't had much of before: a direct seat inside the room where global buyers actually place their orders.

What Is MICAM Milano, exactly?

MICAM Milano is the world's largest international trade show for footwear, held twice a year in Milan, Italy. The 102nd edition runs from 13 to 15 September 2026 at Fieramilano Rho, and it previews the Spring/Summer 2027 collections to more than 20,000 buyers from 130 countries  57% of them from outside Italy. Retailers, wholesalers, agents, and e-commerce players use it to decide what actually gets stocked on shelves worldwide for the next season.

At a glance:

  • 102nd edition, 13–15 September 2026, Fieramilano Rho
  • 20,000+ buyers, 57% international, from 130 countries
  • Asia makes up 22.7% of MICAM's global buyer database
  • Booth rates start at €420/sqm plus an €800 registration fee

Why should Indonesian readers care about a shoe fair in Milan?
Because this year, the trade isn't only flowing one way. Alongside the Italian houses and European buyers, MICAM's guest list includes department stores and retailers with real Indonesian ties  SOGO and Galeries Lafayette among them  sending buyers to scout what's coming next. And on the exhibitor side, Mario Minardi is showing Indonesian-made footwear on the same floor as brands from Italy, Spain, and Brazil.

That's the shift worth noticing. Indonesian footwear has long been a manufacturing base for other people's labels. MICAM is one of the few places where an Indonesian name can stand in the same hall as the buyers, not just supply the factory behind them.

"MICAM is excellence in business, style, and networking  an unmissable event for those who want to stay ahead of the market, build valuable relationships, and play a leading role in the evolution of fashion," reads the fair's own positioning for exhibitors.

What are the Spring/Summer 2027 trends showing at MICAM?

MICAM's Trend Buyer's Guide, developed with Livetrend and built on trend intelligence, predictive analytics, and AI, points to a shift away from years of minimalism. The direction for SS27 is color, texture, and decorative detail  what the guide calls a "conscious form of maximalism."

Four macro trends anchor the season: Mare Noir, Urban Beach, Tribal Relics, and Summer Residence. On the shoe rack, that translates into reworked Mary Janes, deconstructed loafers, and urban flip-flops  styles that read dressed-up and off-duty at the same time. For Indonesian buyers hunting for what to stock ahead of SS27, this is the shortlist.

How much does it cost to exhibit at MICAM?

Standing space starts at €420 per square meter, plus an €800 registration fee. MICAM also offers three all-inclusive booth packages  Smart (16 sqm), Premium (24 sqm), and Diamond (32 sqm)  each fitted with display shelving, seating, lighting, and a storage room, so smaller brands don't need to build a stand from scratch.

What happens at MICAM beyond the showroom floor?
Three days include seminars, trend presentations, and fashion shows where exhibitors can put their own designs on the runway free of charge. There's also an Emerging Designers showcase for 12 selected names, an Italian Startup area run with ICE-Agency, and a Future of Retail zone covering AR, VR, and "phygital" store tech.
