Picture this: Indonesia's Minister of Home Affairs, standing in front of a ballroom full of ambassadors and cabinet officials, grabs a microphone and belts out "Delilah." Not a karaoke bar. A state reception for the King of England.

That's exactly how Tito Karnavian closed out the King Charles III birthday celebration in Jakarta, held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Four Seasons Hotel. What matters more than the bill, diplomats say, is the signal: that the Indonesia-UK relationship  covering trade, climate, defense, and education  is active and growing, not just symbolic.
