Gardens by the Bay, in collaboration with the Indonesian and Thai Embassies and the High Commissions of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia in Singapore, presents the "Orchid Extravaganza: Orchid of the East Tropics" at the Flower Dome.

This grand exhibition marks the largest cross-country partnership ever undertaken by Gardens by the Bay. Alongside enchanting orchids, traditional kebaya dresses curated by each Embassy or High Commission represent their countries' diverse cultures.

The official inauguration took place with Singapore's Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth, Edwin Tong, on July 28th. Distinguished guests, including the four ambassadors from Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, and Malaysia, attended the opening ceremony.

Felix Loh, CEO of Gardens by the Bay, expressed pride in joining hands with neighboring countries for this multinational flower exhibition, the largest of its kind at Gardens by the Bay.

Mr. Suryopratomo, the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, warmly welcomed the collaborative spirit behind the mesmerizing orchid exhibition. He emphasized that beyond the vibrant orchids, the event also celebrates the richness of ASEAN cultures through captivating traditional performances and a beautiful kebaya collection.

Orchids hold a special significance in each of the five participating countries. In Indonesia, orchids are cherished as the national flower, while in Malaysia, they represent the state flower of Sarawak. In Thailand, orchids play a vital role in the economy through plant exports, and Brunei Darussalam's lush forests are home to some of the world's rarest orchid species. In Singapore, orchids serve as more than just the national flower; they also play a role in soft diplomacy, with orchid species named after esteemed dignitaries.

The captivating "Orchid Extravaganza: Orchids of the East Tropics" exhibition boasts an impressive display of over 7000 orchids, each traceable to its origins in Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, or Thailand.

In addition to the mesmerizing orchids, each participating country has thoughtfully represented its unique culture through traditional houses showcased at the event.

The highly anticipated "Orchid Extravaganza: Orchids of the East Tropics" exhibition will captivate visitors at the Flower Dome Gardens by the Bay from July 28th to September 17th, 2023, promising an enchanting journey through the floral wonders and diverse cultural tapestry of ASEAN nations.
