DELONIX GROUP EXPANDS INTO ASIA-PACIFIC, TARGETS MAJOR GROWTH IN INDONESIA’S HOSPITALITY SECTOR
Delonix Group Targets 30 New Hotel Management Agreements in Indonesia, Launches Model J Hotel Brand
Global hospitality management and lifestyle services leader Delonix Group is making significant strides in the Asia-Pacific region, marking a substantial expansion into key consumer sectors including hotels, restaurants, and offline entertainment. The group's strategic move into the region began in 2023 with a high-profile investment in Indonesia’s largest hotel management and investment platform, Indies Hospitality Investments (IHI). This acquisition included leading asset-light hotel operators Artotel Group and Swiss-Belhotel International Indonesia, totaling over 200 hotels and 25,000 rooms.
Earlier this year, Delonix Group furthered its expansion by investing in Hotel MONday in Japan. This dual approach of forging strategic partnerships with local hotel management groups while also establishing its own hotel brands underscores Delonix’s commitment to growth. The group's business development strategy aims to secure 30 new hotel management agreements in Indonesia within the next year.
Bill Lin, President of PT Delonix Group Indonesia, emphasized the potential of the Indonesian market, pointing out that compared to China’s more mature hotel market, Indonesia offers significant growth opportunities. “Indonesia is still in the early stages of development with a fragmented sector, low chain-management rates, and inefficient models. However, the accelerating urbanization, rising per capita income, and growing youthful workforce make it a prime target for investment,” Lin stated.
The expansion efforts have garnered attention from the Indonesian government. Delonix Group’s founder and chairman, Alex Zheng, along with Lin, recently met with Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno to discuss collaborative opportunities aimed at boosting the country's tourism and hospitality sectors. “By working closely with the Indonesian government, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the growth and sustainability of Indonesia's tourist industry, support local communities, and ensure the nation remains a top global destination,” Lin added.
As part of its ambitious expansion plans, Delonix Group is set to launch Model J Hotel, its inaugural hotel brand in Indonesia. The first Model J hotel is slated to open near Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in the fourth quarter of this year, with two additional locations planned for Central Jakarta and West Jakarta in early 2025. This move signifies Delonix Group’s intention to become the largest and premier hotel group in Indonesia within the next three years.
