Ramadan is a time of reflection, generosity, and strengthening bonds—but for many, it is also a time of struggle. In a heartfelt gesture of compassion, Archipelago stepped forward to make a difference, hosting a special iftar event at Munik Resto for the Pelestari Kampung Gasong community, a group of hardworking residents in Jakarta who rely on collecting recyclables for their livelihood.

But this was no ordinary gathering. More than just a shared meal, the evening unfolded into a celebration of resilience, community spirit, and the power of kindness.

From Hardship to Hope: The Story of Kampung Gasong
Tucked away in Jakarta, Kampung Gasong—fondly called "Gashonk" by locals—is home to individuals who earn a modest living by collecting and selling discarded materials like bottles and wood. Their daily struggles often overshadow the joys of Ramadan, but on this night, Archipelago ensured they felt valued and supported.

With open arms, Archipelago welcomed 28 families from the Kampung Gasong Preservation Family, offering them not just a meal but an unforgettable evening of joy. From a short religious lecture (Kultum) to lively interactive games for children, the event was designed to uplift and inspire.

A Night of Giving: More Than Just an Iftar
As the call to prayer marked the time to break fast, families enjoyed a warm meal in a setting filled with laughter and gratitude. However, the generosity didn’t stop there. Archipelago distributed essential food aid—rice, powdered milk, cooking oil, and other staples—to help ease the burdens of daily life. Each family also received a special gift package, ensuring the spirit of Ramadan extended beyond the event.

Community leaders, media representatives, and Archipelago’s corporate team also joined in, emphasizing the importance of collective support and shared humanity.

A Message of Compassion from Archipelago’s CEO
“Ramadan is a time for reflection and unity," said John Flood, CEO of Archipelago. “At Archipelago, we don’t just focus on business growth—we are committed to creating meaningful connections and uplifting communities. I am incredibly proud of our team for bringing this initiative to life, and I hope it serves as a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.”

A Lasting Impact Beyond Ramadan
Archipelago’s commitment to social responsibility shines through initiatives like these, reinforcing the belief that true success is measured by the positive impact we leave on others. As Ramadan continues, this event serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us all that even the simplest gestures—sharing a meal, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up—can transform lives.
