There's a sound every Indonesian kid from the 2016 era knows by heart: a modified bus horn blaring out a cartoonish melody while a crowd on the roadside screams for the driver to honk it again. That sound is now the hook of a pop song with 88rising's backing and a growing international audience.

No Na  the four-member Indonesian girl group made up of Christy Gardena, Baila Fauri, Esther Geraldine, and Shazfa Adesya  released their new single "Honk!" on July 31, 2026, through 88rising Records. The track is built around the "Om Telolet Om" phenomenon, the horn-honking trend that started with kids in Jepara, Central Java, and went viral worldwide in late 2016. Within days of release, the "Honk!" music video had crossed 1.1 million YouTube views and landed on trending charts in Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia.

What Is No Na's "Honk!" Actually About?

The song mixes energetic dance-pop with very specific Indonesian references: angkot (the minivans that function as public transport across the country), the telolet horn sound itself, and the phrase "Sabang sampai Merauke"  a common shorthand for "all of Indonesia," from its westernmost to easternmost points. The whole thing is wrapped in a glossy Y2K visual style, a signature move for 88rising.

The music video opens with a telolet horn blast from a bus carrying a "no na" license plate, before cutting into a choreography sequence on what looks like an angkot terminal set. It's silly on the surface, but the message underneath is about freedom, self-belief, and pride in being Indonesian  the same themes the group has leaned on since their May 2025 debut single "Shoot."

Why Pick a Nine-Year-Old Traffic Meme?
Because it still means something to the exact audience 88rising is chasing. Om Telolet Om wasn't just a local joke  it got attention from international DJs and musicians back in 2016, making it one of the few Indonesian internet phenomena with genuine global reach. Reviving it now, through a K-pop-adjacent group with a Western label behind it, is a bet that nostalgia plus novelty travels well on TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

"Honk is out now," No Na wrote in their release-day post  a caption as blunt and unpretentious as the song's premise.

How Is the Song Performing So Far?
Fast. "Honk!" is No Na's third single of 2026, following "Rollerblade" in April, and it's outpacing both in early engagement. The video racked up over 130,000 likes in its first days alone. It follows a pattern the group has repeated since debut: build a song around one piece of Indonesian culture  traditional dance moves, gamelan textures, local slang  and let it do double duty as an introduction to Indonesia for listeners who've never been.

What's Next for No Na?
"Honk!" will appear on No Na's first studio album, "Island Girl," due out September 18, 2026. The group is also confirmed to perform at 88rising's Head In The Clouds festival at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles this August, and they were named to Forbes' "30 Under 30 Asia  Entertainment & Sports" list in May 2026. For a group that debuted a little over a year ago, the trajectory is steep.
